Description Ok, so here's the deal...I finally finished Wolverine! Well, I could have spent another 4 or 5 hours on him, but some areas I overworked and the paper was starting to disintergrate! LOL I'm too particular I think and I fuss way too much and I use too much eraser!

The problem I'm having here is my scanner is too small, but I can scan it, but it scans very harshly and shows every little dent in the paper that is there in the blacks...really had to go over the blacks several times to get it dark enough. And my scanner sucks so the scan doesn't truly show all the values from dark to white so it doesn't look like it does in real life.

Then, I decided to take a pic of it, which is what I posted, but the camera takes a little bit too 'soft' of a pic if you get what I'm saying and doesn't quite capture the feel and texture of the pencil portrait.

Anyway, I know I can do better than this! I'm not happy with the claws at all, the hair is dreadful, and that's always the part I hate doing the most cause I don't have patience to get it right, because I could get it right, I just find drawing hair way too boring! About the only part I like in this portrait is the eye on the left (or Wolverine's right eye), which I completed and then left alone, not like the other eye which I fiddled around with way too much!

Anyway, so here it is, my tribute to my one and only, Wolverine~! I just know he can lift me way over his head and throw me around a bit (in good fun of course-cause he'd never really hurt me!) LOL And as far as the cold hard steel goes....heheheh.....I'm in love! Hurt me baby, but only when I ask! LOL

I'm assuming that's a good thing! LOL Naw, I almost scrapped this one, litterally almost threw in the garbage to start again, but with the insistance of a few people who saw it, I decided to not start over. It's good enough I guess, I can do better though!

looks great... i dont know how you got the dark dark, but might i suggest a 9B for the future (if thats not already what you used) it comes out way dark that way and you dont have to grind the paper so bad... also another suggestion would be to do things of that size on something more sturdy than paper like a white matte board or bristol or something, it withstands abuse a little better... it looks great though, i like it... i can't see any of the mistakes you are talking about in the picture...

I did use bristol board...so that tells you how much I erase! LOL Yeah, I figured a 9B would work great...but I only have up to a 6B and that went pretty dark, will have to invest in some darker leads if I ever decide to do another similar portrait that has black blacks!

Derwent makes a 9B pencil. I'm not sure if they're sold alone, but I got a tin of 12 pencils for graphic sketching and there was a great assortment of pencils in it.

Well, thank you! There are some amazing artists here on Deviant, and if you check my favorites, you'll see there's a Wolverine drawing there that is I think, 10xs better than mine! I'm glad you like it, though this was my second attempt and almost got scrapped too! But I was too damn lazy to start all over again...LOL

i know what you mean *damn you spooty scanners* anyhoo you did a wonderful job on this picture, the shading and the details are just incredible, it looks more like a photo then a drawing. The claws and hair could use some work, but i honestly didn't realize it until you pointed it out, you critisize yourself too harshly, you should let others do it for you ^_^ anyways keep up the good work!
