Description Hey all! I'm back with one more tutorial! This time I'll talk about the steps I take to draw and ink something.

As I said in my last tutorial - this is by no means the only way to draw things, but I've found that, for me, this is the easiest way to build up a drawing.

Not sure if I should tag this as "mature content," because of boobs, but I'll leave it off unless someone says otherwise. They're artistic boobs meant to explain the torso.

I hope that this is helpful, and not just me stroking my ego!

I am one of the many people who start with the head. I NE er though to draw out the body first. I'll have to try it. Thank you for sharing.

I fear I am guilty of letting my characters float around in the void. *im sorry guys* This was very informative. The extent of my backgrounds is usually just a horizon and MAYBE some grass (if i feel like being REALLY artsy), hopefully now ill have superfantastic backgrounds that will be superfantastic and dope and all those other things the young'ns say.

That's totally okay. I definitely have my fair share of void drawings or minimal background. It's only within the last year or so of working as an comic book artist's assistant that I've learned not to be afraid of backgrounds. I found myself spending much more time coloring the backgrounds than the characters in the foreground and, eventually, it finally struck me "Hey - these aren't so scary. And they make your drawings look soooooo superfantastic and dope!"

As artists, we're constantly learning, no matter where we are in our artistic journey. I'm happy that you found this useful!

Line art is my weakest point, I think. :I
As are backgrounds.

So thank you for this helpful tutorial.

I'm actually surprised that there was anything in there that you could find useful - I wouldn't have thought that you needed any of it! I'm glad to be able to help!

I think everyone struggles with lines and backgrounds - I know I do.

I forgot who it was who said it - it was someone I follow on tumblr (it might have been Fox-Orian. That man's backgrounds *swoon*) - but this really stuck with me. "If you think it's fun drawing and designing characters, imagine how much fun it could be to create the world around them." I've been trying to take that approach to backgrounds instead of seeing them as a chore or something to avoid.
