Wow, you named her well. That is the bumpiest toad I ever saw in my life. It's a wonderful photo too. Sorry to hear you lost her.

Yes, Jaba is a she. At the time we found her, we didn't know how or if you could tell the difference between the males and females. Well, the females get a lot bigger and the males are the only ones that make noises.

ahh...
I wsa looking at the whitehouse butterfly site, trying to find something to do next monday, and saw you and ewm cleaned up on the photo contest a few times there.
Whitehouse is closed for winter, Indy zoo and me's zoo (my pc said its relatively close) are both closed on mondays, not that I should drive that far anyways, but still, what does you're state have against mondays?

You should say +ewm cleaned up, that one month she took 1st and 2nd and left me with 3rd. LOL They open for the year April 1st, I think the owner spends his winters in Florida. I have mentioned to him at least a couple times that it would be nice if they stayed open in the winter, I think they would get a lot of business. As far as Monday's, that is only for January and February. Probably because they don't get a whole lot of people coming during the winter months. If you noticed, there are two mondays they are going to be open, weather permitting. What is the me's zoo? You might want to check out the White River Gardens right next to the Indy Zoo, in fact off the same parking lot. From January 19 to February 18 they are having a tropical display including orchids, bromilaids and hibiscus. Also, sometime around the end of March, they will have butterflies until sometime in September I think. I have never checked it out, but I have heard their display of butterflies is just as good as the one in Whitehouse.

Right now, the place I miss most is Mathei gardens of Univ. Mich. most of my plant pics are from there, and I would love to get a chance to go back there. I even had a membership there the last year I lived in Michigan, of course, it was only a 5 minute drive.

Not sure what it really is, kinda seems like a mutated petting zoo, but then again..

It seems like Indiana has a lot of these. This is the first time I heard about this one. I recently found out there is one up at Michigan City. There is a place I think is called Big Cats of Indiana on US 24 I think it's around Idaville. They have tigers and lions and a few other big cats and other animals. I think you have to call ahead to tour that one. We also have Black Pines Animal Resort around Albion. There is also a Wolf Park in the Lafayette area. Then we have the 4 zoos that are listed with the AZA.

...is worth 2 in you undershorts? Very nice image, like the dichotomy of soft people skin and leather-like toad skin.

Many people would think that this is an ugly creature, but I find it rather cute. I like the juxtaposition of the gentle, pink hands and the frog's crude skin. It makes you wonder if it's about to turn into a prince soon. ;->

I'm glad you find her cute, we have 5 for pets. This was our first one and they really are intelligent creatures and can be very intertaining at times. They are quiet and easy to care for. We have really learned a lot about them in the last 3 1/2 years. As far as turning into a prince, this one would be a princess. We do have two male toads, Mr. Peepers and Zippity.
