So, the Blood Pact returns.And with a motherfucking kick to your face, bitches. Vent-art turned full-fledged scene. Damn, I rarely been able to translate my emotions into art, but I finally did it.
Here's Blind the Blood Pact sirdar kicking some pussyfag pseudoreich clonetrooper ass, and I swear I've fucking proud of Blind's expression here. Hatred and heresy, motherfucka, you seen it?
I'm fucking proud of everything - finally I drew a scene, with perspective, depth, lightning, and all this jazz under 3 motherfucking hours, you suckas!

Phew, guy. Fifteen minutes of added lighting could have really picked this piece up off its face because it honestly fell flat.
I took the liberty of doing a fifteen minute lighting re-touch with your piece of art . Your picture is on the right, my lighting retouch is on the left.
What I notice first about your photo is the fact that while the sky is a brilliant white (either from smoke in the air, cold weather, etc.) all of your background subjects are dark and there is no dynamics to their lighting at all. I'm not saying add more detail since that would obviously detract from your main subjects (blind and the trooper); but because you've failed to add in core shadows and dynamic lighting, your subject and the less important background subjects blend together in a very bland, brown/gray colored piece.
Noticing second is the fact that you have all these rich, warm brown and reds and then you have that flat, unshaded, blue colored trooper sitting on the corner. He's not under anything, so why's he so dark? He may as well be painted onto the trench wall and have a pile of rotted guts stuck nearby. Warming up the color of his armor to match his dying comrade's would tie him into the picture and make him a part of it without taking up too much attention. Then adding just a layer of light tones to the parts where his body would logically get hit by the stark, static light coming from a sky as white as that would make him an actual object rather than what looks like a cardboard cutout.
That brings me to the third thing: Your trench walls. It's light behind blind, then suddenly it's dark in front of him, it causes an uneven feeling to the eyes and ruins the perspective, since the light seems to magically stop on the other half of him. The bars/planks/walks going across the tops of the trenches should presumably be casting shadows down the walls aren't casting anything. There's no under lighting, so it can't be from lights in the trench. Instead it looks like a mess of brown and gray streaks in attempt to hastily slap up a background to finish the piece. By the trooper's hand it looks like you painted around his fingers, which leads me to believe your characters and the background are painted on the same layer. This can work for a quick concept art, but when you want to have a good looking background it's hard not to notice the smaller brush strokes around the characters' bodies, halting the uniform feel of the scene. You've got these big, bold strokes at the top and in between the spaces of the characters and suddenly that boldness peters out into dozens of thinner, careful strokes.
Speaking of details, you did a beautiful job of rendering Blind's violent snarl (although where on earth are his lips!), and the details on his armor, limbs, and gun are excellent. Unfortunately, some of those details get lost or the opposite, becoming overwhelming because there's not enough contrast in shadows to properly break up his gratuitous amounts of armor and allow the eye to rest. He appears to be lit from all directions, resulting in yet another flat looking composition. The light will be hitting him from up and behind just slightly, same goes for the trooper on the ground. Sharper shadows on his face and body will help give the viewer's eye something to rest on and not only make the picture more consistent but a hell of a lot more dramatic as well. Illustrating a scene is a lot like painting your own cinematographic piece. It's more than just a character illustration, it's more than just some concepts put together, it is a scene that should make the audience lean back with a sharp inhale of breath. Whether from scale, from shock, or from the effects of lighting. This scene you've made here would have benefited heavily from lighting to create that impact.
Tricks for using easy lighting are an overlay layer and a multiply layer, playing with the curves on on an image can unify the colors as well to make the whole piece seem complete.
Otherwise, this is great for three hours, and I'll look forward to seeing more from you.

Sorry, but your recoloring just upped the contrast, and made light hues lighter, and dark hues, darker, rendering several parts of the picture an unreadable dark mess.
Sure enough, a more fully rendered lighting would benefit the piece, like taking in account the trench roof planks, but for such works it's unnecessary and clutters the piece. Your recolor quite nicely shows what would happen and I strive to avoid it.

It's a good image, nice - as you say - to see a proper scene, and the timescale is very impressive. The lasgun butt is overly large, but aside from that it's great. Colours are well-balanced too; just the right amount of green in the mud colours to make the red pop.

yeah Death Korps are pretty overrated nowadays but maybe when their popularity dies down all the rubbish fluff about them will be forgotten and rewritten. i mean some of the recent books hint that they're not actually clones
