The princess of the sun! Sun Butt! Lolol.
I kept most of my ideas from my 2016 redesign. It's not outright stated, but it's presumed by most of us fans that Luna n Celestia were Unicorns before they became Alicorns. I've been making my own Alt Universe MLP story, n in my own HC is that Alicorns have the traits of all three species meshed into one. I had originally given the sisters a normal Earth pony tail, but remembered that they used to be Unicorns (in my HC), so I had to switch it to a unicorn tail. When I design Cadance (I hopefully will) She'll have a feather Pegasus tail since it's speculated that she was a pegasus before becoming an Alicorn.
I wanted Celestia to be elegant but simple. As much as I wanted to give her fancy designs like Luna, I kept her pure white to reflect her good nature. I also feel she looks best when kept pure white. A lot of the changes was the coloring. I made her colors more pastel n not as saturated. As much as I wanted to keep her feathers the same as her mane n tail. I have a HC that Celestia's hair changed after banishing NMM (original, I know). If I have the energy/time, I might design their younger selves. I also love how she looks with the sunrise colors in her feathers. Adds some variety. The colors aren't too crazy as well, so it blends better with her pastel hair. I should also mention Celestia's coat has a yellow undertone to it, it's not just pure white.
Celesta was designed to have swan wings n to have some swan-like traits. Her long neck being the main trait. I like to think she has an Arabian horse body. She's tall n thin like one. I kinda wished I made her legs longer, but I think it's just how it posed her, so I ain't beating myself up abt it too much. I found a way to draw wings simpler so I'm not ripping my hair out from all the feathers lol. Since I've been riding horses, I now know that horses wear boots on their legs. I had those in previous designs, but never truly understood what they were lol. I don't like the boots on the hind legs, so I kept them only on the front legs. She's got other things going on in the back anyways, like the feathers on her hocks n the flowy unicorn feathers on her fetlocks.
