::cocks his head to the side and then smirks:: Just when you thought an illithid could not get any more creepy...Great concept that actually fits in well with the race. I need to go back and find that prestige class but you gave me the kernel of an idea. Thanks

Why am I reminded of "Terrorvision" by this beautiful work? XP I guess the pet looks like he's quite ravenous, at least.

Pseudonatural entities are always good hungry for something, souls at least. XD

Absolutely beautiful. The Illithids are among my favorite humanoid critters in the WotC universes - I thought well of them even before I'd filled my head full of Chtulhu stories. The details you put into this drawing are truly magnificent and reflect this race marvelously.

Illithids are also one of my favorite classic DnD creatures, with only beholders as rivals for my affection. XD I also encountered illithids before my introduction to the Cthulhu Mythos, and loved them immediatly, I want to say that my first knowledge of them came from Salvatore's Dark Elf trilogy. I'm pleased you think that this one's a good interpretation of the race, I tried to think a lot about what Illithid fashion would probably be like. It seems to me they'd enjoy elaborate designs which also help to protect their brains. I've been wanting to draw more Illithids sometime, if only to come up with more "brain basket" things, heheh.

OH NO, Illithid and Alienist -that is just stacking creepy with freakish. As a gamer I must say no, no, no. Great Job.

Thanks for the comment! It is a very "wrong" combination, heheh, not the sort of thing you'd want your party to run into. . .unless you're an especially diabolical GM. XD

Thanks for the comment! It is a particularily "wrong" combination. . . definitely not the sort of fellow that you want your party to run into. . . unless you're an especially diabolical GM XD.

Oooo! Now why didn't I think of this for my own game?

I play an Alienist character, and I often have Aliensts as bad guys in my D&D campagnes.

Alienists are my favorite class, I think. I run a campaign in which they play an important part too. XD Thanks for the comment and fave!

Yeah. It's my way of playing Call of Cthulhu when you're actually playing D&D.

You know what's always bothered me about ilithids and mind flayers? That we never actually get to see them doing any mind flaying. They sling a few spells, use a few confusion and chaotic effects, and let their goddamn pets do all the work. I wanna see what those tentacles are good for, dammit! I want to see one of those things lock down on a hapless peasant's head and SUCK.

Okay, that started in Baldur's Gate and ended in hentai.

Aye, Cap'n! One mindflayer flaying to be concocted in the near future, as such would indeed create a damn good image.

Very striking, good idea with the plain background as it does not swamp the picture

Thank you for the comment- that's exactly why I decided to just leave the background plain, figured that anything else would detract far too much from the main figures.
