I'd agree that his is chunkier than your average manticore, it suits it. The face is very creepy, it frightens me. They always creeped me out because they look so much more intelligent than other monsters.

For me, the manticore has always been one of the most disturbing of all creatures. I think it's all down to the fact that it's got a human face grinning out of that body, it makes it look utterly, utterly unatural.

Your manticore looks more solidly-built than most I've seen, like he's ready for a ruck with something bigger than him. Nice.

I've got to agree, manticores -are- disturbing things, and I've been in a really unpleasant mood the last few days due to personal dramas. And so only one of the most disturbing and unnatural creatures seemed to suffice to get my angst out.

I deliberately made him a more solid manticore, since, alot of the versions I've seen of them make them look a bit on the frail and delicate side. Which just doesn't seem suited a creature that's supposed to devour people bones and all.

Thanks much for the comment!
