Description Form assumed by Athrun Zala in "G-CORE: GUNDAM SEED DESTINY!"

The term "G-Core" is a pseudo-acronym, standing for "GUNDAM-CORE OF OVERT REPLICANT ENERGY" given to a small device within the above-named one-shot that is literally an extremely high-tech piece of military hardware that has been experimented on to make it human friendly. The Core itself is implanted into the body of a critically or fatally injured human, or alternatively a corpse, to replace damaged internal organs, though it's biggest use in this respect is to replace a person's heart. Once connected to a human body's nervous system via hot-wiring, the Core takes over the function of the missing organ, and in the event a second fatal injury is set to take place, the Core will force itself through the bearer's chest and envelope them within it to protect them.

IN addition to the above, the Core also acts as the following:

Radar, as the Core can sense the presence of danger and, more importantly, the presence of OTHER G-Cores up to 1500 hectares away;

Compendium, in that it can read through physical contact the parameters of any SINGLE Mobile Suit the bearer touches, and can add any off-shoots of that single unit's design as further forms;

Spy Camera, in that Kira can remove the Core from his body of his own will and transfer his consciousness into it, causing it to transform into a small, mechanical bird that is able to slip into any location unnoticed and record EVERYTHING it sees and hears before returning to Kira's body. Once back within, it can then turn Kira's eyes into video projectors to allow others to review what it has seen. The Core can also borrow the use of Kira's vocal cords to speak, albeit it in a synthetic robot voice;

Weapon/Shield, in that the Core's energy can be used to transform into Gundam Rider JUSTICE, in its basic Aegis Form.

~SPOILER!~
Athrun Zala and Kira Yamato used to be friends who were polar opposites; while Kira was perfectly happy with being an upstanding, straight-laced citizen, Athrun was always teh rough-and-tumble hooligan with a penchant for being on the wrong side of the law. Thus,they generally admired each other for that sole reason: They saw in each other what they wanted to be themselves.

However, after a failed attempt by Athrun to turn Kira from an "Old-fashioned goody-two-shoes" into a "Street-wise smart bomb" lands them both in prison with the blood of three cops on their hands, Athrun underwent drastic psychological changes; where he had been somewhat well-mannered and even-tempered, he became EXTREMELY violent and abusive in all senses of the word. Due their sharing a cell in prison, the two would often wind up in scuffles and arguments, all of which were instigated by Athrun, who became constantly more enraged. His reason? Kira's lack of any change, regardless of what Athrun threw at him, and the fact that he RARELY, if EVER fought back, and the when he DID fight back, it was from a pacifist's perspective.

In their last fight on the eve of Kira's final day in the slammer, a massive fight breaks out between the two, resulting in Kira taking a powerful slap to the head that sends him to the floor. There, he finds a stray piece of lead pipe under his bed and pulls it out,ramming it into Athrun's chest when the other man attempts a rush attack. When the guards finally stepped in to take Kira away and release him, Athrun grabs one of the guard's pistols and, after pistol-whipping the guard across the back of the head, shoots Kira in the heart repeatedly, killing him almost instantly.

Athrun is later rushed to surgery to remove the pipe, and, due to rapid infection from a flesh-eating virus that had been lining the inside of the pipe, he dies of a rotted heart. The military decide to use him as their second test subject for the infamous "G-Core", which had already claimed thirty lives before Kira's success.

The surgery is a success and Athrun makes a full recovery, but is soon stolen away by the Coordinator faction ZAFT's best pilots, and is subsequently trained to pilot a Mobile Suit. It is during this time that Athrun discovers his ability to transform into a GUNDAM Rider, but keeps this to himself.

After several months of training, and after the Earth Alliance's forces met with multiple defeats of Genocidal magnitude at Athrun's hands, Athrun is promoted to Captain-General of the Starship Minerva, leading an all-star crew of pilots and elite crewmates. Unfortunately, all of the crew soon discover their new captain's dark side, and find out the consequences of "crossing" their captain, which, they also discover, takes VERY little.

It is during a routine patrol around the rings of Saturn that his crew detects the Starship Archangel and, more importantly, Kira Yamato, his "old friend". Athrun sets out to instigate another fight with Kira, only to be served his own ass on a gilded platter courtesy of Kira's expert training with the Core's various functions. Athrun runs back to the Minerva with his tail between his legs, heavily injured and with most of his armor falling away, only to be sedated by the ship's medic, Shinn Asuka, after flinging a man with a broken leg off his cot to have a place to sleep. What he doesn't know is that the third and final unwilling participant of "Operation CORE" is closer than he thought...
~END SPOILER!~
Not much is known about Athrun''s armor, as he has not been seen transforming into it as of yet. Similarly, as he has barely trained himself in his Core's most basic functions, he has no knowledge of the Core's "Active Protocols", rendering him massively outclassed when taking on the much more highly trained Kira Yamato in battle. The only training he has done with his Core has been to unlock several of its weapons, namely a pair of small laser blades and a beam rifle, all of which have yet to be named. As he lacks training in "Active Protocols", ha also has yet to produce any finishing attacks.

In contrast to Strike, which took less time than I thought it would, Aegis' armor took a lot longer to get a grasp of, considering the much greater amount of detail within. The shoulders and chest, specifically, were my greatest sources of struggle. The shoulders ALONE required a redesign, and are now almost COMPLETELY based off of the original Mobile Suit's right pauldron.

Design ideas were taken and free-handed from this image:

Hope you like it! I'm currently debating whther or not I should work on the Impulse, which is piloted by Shinn Asuka. Any suggestions or thoughts?

~EDIT!~
After a bit of feedback a family member, i realized that the major portion of leg armor was too bright a shade of red. to rectify this, i've darkened it a bit to make it look a bit better. ^_^
