Description So doing that Character Development meme the other night made me realize that it's been well over a year since I did a finished picture of Trean in her Grand Admiral uniform. And I've NEVER done a finish of her with her flame crown before!

So here we go, our lady in all her flaming combat-monster glory. Commander of armies, bane of the illithid menace, dragon-rider, legendary champion of the Terran Empire. Not only does she make seriously short work of entire enemy attack forces in single combat, she's not above burning down their houses with them inside, scattering the ashes to the winds, and salting the earth so nothing will ever grow again.

Also, she's the commander of this ship: which is outfitted with some seriously terrifying weaponry.

You do not want to mess with this woman.

I realize I did the clouds-n-stars thing again. I realize it's lazy, but I actually really like doing those clouds! Texture is by me with some help from CGTextures.

Oh gosh, kudos to you for the awesome action pose! Action poses SCARE me, haha.
I love Trean's expression, and the orange lighting on her blue uniform. And oh man, wish I could get my hands on those boots! I hardly ever wear boots, but those look so snazzy.

Fff, I TOTALLY understand! It's not too bad doing one in midair, because then you can contort the body into all kinds of weird positions and not worry about there being a flat plane underneath... my next challenge is doing dynamic actiony poses ON THE GROUND!

Damn, I can tell you spent a ton of time on this piece and it looks fantastic. The colors are so rich and bold while the pose is very dynamic. I think my favorite aspects of this drawing are Trean's facial expression and the warm glow on her jacket from the flames.

I did spend a fair amount of time on it, but it surprisingly didn't take too long, all things considered. Probably just because I was enjoying it too much to want to take a break. I'm so glad you like it! Doing the light from the flames was a lot of fun, I've really been enjoying this kind of dynamic lighting lately. Which is new! It always used to feel like SUCH a chore...

HEHE, yesss, I want the boots too. (Now if I could get them to fit around my massive calves, THAT would be a feat.) Glad you're liking the lighting! It kind of seems like a lot of my recent pictures have kind of devolved into lighting practice lately, because I used to hate it. NOT SO ANYMORE, apparently!
