Description Hey everyone, sorry for being absent for a little while. I'm going to post two things tonight to make up for it!

First is Martin the Warrior. I tried to give him a good action pose, but honestly looking at it again I don't think the pose came out very good. It seems kind of awkward and unbalanced. Action poses are definitely something I need to improve on. I think for Martin the Warrior being such a prominent character in the books, he deserves a better drawing. I'll get around to that at some point!

I am that is, indeed. I love the determined expression Martin has on; he looks ready to tackle on enemies! And I agree with Kelaiah when I say that he almost looks a litter otter-y, mainly with the tail and legs. The post is kind of alright, but not bad for an action post, I say. Well done! (:

The coolest hero of them all.

I think you were right to avoid the cliche of doing his pose in the tapestry. This is more original, plus realistically, you *have* to be agile and action-y to be a warrior - I mean, come on, in that kind of life, swords, arrows and spears are flying at you from all sides!

Β

Overall, I think this is a great pose and a great design, but he looks too 'ottery'. I'd say make his tail much thinner and longer, and make his legs more spindly. Maybe his shoulders/chest could stand to be a bit broader, since Martin is depicted in the books as sturdily built. Also, his sword should be much longer (once, whenΒ I was designing a character with a sword, one of my viewers kept on telling me about how swords are generally really long, and looking over some real life swords, I saw he was right ).

Fair enough on your critiques. I think this one is honestly my weakest drawing of the series. I'll have to draw him again sometime in the future, maybe once I get better at drawing action poses.

I'd love to see you draw Martin again in the future!

Martin's looking pretty cool either way! I like the character design.
He definitely deserves more fan-art, of course...

Good point you state in the text. Martin is most of a static, heroic type.

One of the initial poses I had him in was a pose similar to how he's depicted on the tapestry, but I thought that was a little cliche so I avoided it. Looking back, I kind of wish I went with it now. This pose was intended to look like he was in the middle of a sword battle, but he looks kind of stiff and off balance. x)

I can always make another drawing though, so it's no biggie I guess.

^^ For some reason I always imagine him as smaller then most, so that's also something that made him more heroic.
