Description
Here's my concept for Mega Avalugg. In the wild they're known to transport Bergmite on their backs, resembling an aircraft carrier. In battle that need disappears so I thought it could extend upwards creating a helmet and armour of ice. I removed its Sturdy ability in place of Ice Body because there's little chance anyone can OHKO Mega Avalugg now, even special moves will have trouble. That said, it does have a 4x weakness to two popular types now so I think that balances out some of its threat. It would be easy to make this Mega Evolution overpowered, especially since it has access to good support including Recover, so I hope my concept offers some balance.

Upon Mega Evolving, Mega Avalugg becomes a defensive powerhouse in more ways than one. first of all it uses the Mega energy to reinforce its body with a further coat of solid ice, increasing its defences dramatically, including its SpD, which was previously a serious weak point. Secondly, this ice is incredibly thick and as hard as steel, resulting in a type change that removes weaknesses and grants a number of new resistances. Should it be damaged in cold weather, it's Ice Body ability allows it to regenerate. Mega Avalugg is a fearsome foe but it does become more susceptible to Fire and Fighting moves. Even so, trainers should avoid battling it in hail and should be weary of its dangerously powerful Gyro Ball.
