Description

Been a while since I uploaded something, almost two months.

And the thing I upload is a sona piece pfft. Probably not very exciting (considering it's another portrait-like piece but shush they're easy to do) but perhaps it'll show off some differences in my art, also it's my sona (one of three at this point pfft) if none of you know him, just updated with a new look.

I have been working on art since around two months ago, with numerous WIPs that never really got finished mostly from fatigue of sorts on art - It's really nice to honestly do something different from Pokemon pieces but y'all here don't seem to like anything else I tend to do (which is how original art goes but, I'm not going to draw fan-art just for anyone else's satisfaction), so I've dedicated to dedicate my time more-so to improvement and practice rather than finishing things that I can post.

Onto the actual piece - saturation-wise it should look different as this was done on a new computer and a different monitor - which either ramps up the saturation on my art or my laptop screen washes out the colour horrendously - either way I can compare so it should look better.

This is also a piece I finished with value-control in mind (big issue of mine was the contrast on the shadows) much more than what I usually do - tried to keep values more controlled in regards to their local values. Or in non-art speak, I shaded things with a restricted darkness/lightness dependent on how dark or light the colour is to begin with (excluding highlights at the moment). Only done this for three WIPs of mine, one of them being this - still a bit of a noob at it but so far so good.

Though honestly a simple portrait (with a very lazy background) like this is a bit of a weak example of that at play so future pieces if I finish them should express this technique a bit more, I hope.

Anyway apart from the art ramble - can't guarantee lots of art, but I'll try to finish and post things more often than not.
