Description /Update 22/12/14 Woohoo I got in, and her Celestially Destined pokemon is a yamask! I'm pretty happy with it (could've been much worse) although I keep associating her with shade which is BAD.
PS Any members (or hopeful members) interested in becoming a rival? We can RP their first meeting and battle a lot and maybe trade/breed pkmn eventually!

/Update 08/12/14 Updated the artwork, her clothes look a bit nicer and SHADING. Added some more texture, jewellery and lighted the skin. Still not quite happy with it but there's nothing I can add now. FYI mods, I have not edited the description!

/Update 29/11/14 Added the app art. I am not happy with it in the least. I finally managed to push myself to finish it and was really happy, the shading was really nicely done and it was perfect - then my computer crashed and I lost half it. Dear lord why did I never think of saving. I really didn't want to do all she shading again (I HATE shading clothes) However I realised that, since I would be editing it to fit the pokemon in, I would be editing it anyway. Hopefully before by the time she gets a pokemon I will have finished the artwork, but for now, I'm just using the flat version because dear lord I really can't wait to try out for this group. .u.

Kim Ji, now let me explain. When it came to creating a trainer, I had two ideas floating though my head the first was of a religious and gentle, priest kinda character, loosly based on Mary, the pastor in Cat-Run who I will show to you someday. The other trainer I wanted to make was a proper, kimono-laden lady, because I LOVED the kimono sisters in HGSS COUGHtheonlygoodbitCOUGH. I decided to combine the two together and created a mudang, which is essentially a sort of korean preistess/shaman. I ended up spending a lot of time researching them and they are so interesting and pretty. Sadly, I was not able to get a whole not of information from the internet, so I'm really hoping I haven't messed up horribly and done something absolute horribly wrong with her and she's uber-racist or something. .O.

The main job of the mudang is to 'channel messages from gods and spirts' - though I wanted to link it in with pokemon in some way. Initially, I was going for the idea that she could talk to legendary pokemon (allegedly), or to pokemon themselves, but each of them sort of cut to close to the boundaries of the group. However, mudang also perform rituals for the dead and to help them pass into the next worth, which ticked ghost pokemon for me. They also create pujok (those paper charms), another thing I've been wanting to incorporate into a character for some time, along with fortune telling. I feel she would make an interesting pokemon trainer and it will be fun trying to fit the mudang part of her into the pokemon world.

Another interesting thing is how it is caused - they receive a 'calling' where evil spirits enter their body, they become sick and insane and the only way to get rid of them is to become a mudang. If they don't, they and their family would become riddled with curses and misfortune. This seems like such an interesting concept. However, Kim Ji became a mudang because her parents were, so this does not really apply to her.

 Name: Kim Ji
 Age: 27
 Birthdate: September 21st [Virgo]
 Gender: Female
 Hometown: Ecruteak City
Occupation: Mudang (Korean shaman, pronounced Mun-tang)
 Type of Trainer: New

Favourite Type: Ghost - Like many in her culture, Ji initially believed that ghost-types were evil. However, as she got to know them she found them extremely intriguing and this belief dropped. While she still belives they contain the souls of the departed, she also believes that, like any pokemon, whether they are good and evil depends on how they grew up.
Least Favourite Type: Fire - Her former mentor owned a fire-type pokemon who was always rather hostile to her, and this had grown to a fear of anything that can horribly burn her with a spit of fire.

 Personality:
Ji is quiet and stoic. While she is a friendly and warm person, her face rarely reflects this, to it can be easy for her to come off as rude and uninterested to anybody not familiar with her. She is rational and loves working out solutions to problems, but gets frustrated and a little obsessive when she comes to something she cannot do. She is a very curious girl, always wanting to learn more and never really satisfied with what she has. She is always seeking to better herself. Ji has little interest in making friends or finding romance with a particular person, though if they never need help she will do whatever she can. She can sometimes be envious of people who know what they're doing with their life and are happy, but is almost impossible to get angry.

History:  haha it's so long sorry!
Ji was the mudang (or preistess) - this was a position that had fallen down to her from her late parents, and therefore had little choice on the matter. Thankfully, she did not hate this, and in a way enjoyed being able to pass wisdom onto others, but lived with the overbearing thought that she could have done more. Her job mainly revolved around rituals that repelled evil spirits and attracted happiness, telling fortunes, and creating charms to help other people and pokemon. But here most common job involved the 'spirits' of ghost pokemon. In her particular culture, it was strongly believed that ghost pokemon contained the spirits of deceased pokemon and humans, and this made them evil until the spirit was freed. Often ghost pokemon would be brought to her, and she would be expected to free the spirts that were trapped within it - however, the ritual was very dangerous. More often than not, the pokemon died in the process, though this was seen as a necessary evil and that the afterlife of the spirit was more important than the life of the possessed pokemon.

Where did Ji gain an interest in pokemon training? One day, a young child - no older than 7 - came into her home, desperate for help: she had befriended a ghost pokemon and wanted to keep it as a pet, however none of her family would allow it. The girl wanted her to get rid of the evil spirit so it could stay. Ji tried her best to dispel the spirit safely, but, like too many pokemon before her, the pokemon passed away in its sleep. The girl was devastated. She bust into tears and hugged the pokemon tenderly... only for it to suddenly wake up in her arms!
Ji was excited by this. The next time she was given a similar job, she tried to her best to befriend the ghost before the ritual, and gradually, her chances of success rose. However having little experience with pokemon before made her unsure how to handle them, and most pokemon, as soon as the ritual was over, would be taken away by their owner and never seen again. She concluded that the key to success lay in the bond between the humans and the pokemon, but she could never achieve that for with a pokemon hat was not hers.

With the reluctant blessing of her mentor, Ji set off to the Boralis region, where many new trainers were starting their pokemon journey, in the hope of finding a 'Celestially Destined' partner to bond with, and find the key to perfecting her rituals.

 Inventory:
- Several items important for her job, including pujok and equipment for her rituals.
- 4 custom pokeballs, she specifically created them and are designed for ghost-type pokemon - they look like pujok.

 Extra:
- Somewhat dislikes fighting with her pokemon, although she acknowledges that it is a necessary evil not only to make them stronger, but to strengthen the bond between them.
- Her parents where both very old when she was born, and they died from natural old age in her teens. Most of her mudang training was provided by her mentor (and grandfather). She does have an older sister and neice, though she has never met them - they left their parent's home before she was born because of conflicting beliefs.
- Vegetarian

“So your favorite type is Ghost? How ghastly! You bare a straight face towards the world and believe the eyes are a window to the soul. You often find yourself alone but it has never bothered you much to begin with. With the guidance of the stars, I believe Yamask is the best partner for you! I hope you two have a long lasting companionship!”

 Nickname: Host(ess)
 Gender: Female
 Species: Yamask
 Nature: Bashfull
 OT: Prof. Larix

 Ability: Mummy
 Moves:
- Protect - Normal - Enables the user to evade all attacks.
- Will-O-Wisp - Fire - The user shoots a sinister flame at the target to inflict a burn.
- Astonish - Ghost - The user attacks the target while shouting in a startling fashion.
- Dark Pulse - Dark - The user releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts.

 Bio:
Hostess had once been a child, left abandoned after a horrid apocalypse-style war - from a young age she was traumatised by the sheer numbers of horrors that surrounded her. The sight of dead or near-dead bodies that coated the streets, mauled by strange mutated, savage pokemon - she would spent her nights listening to the groans of agony across the streets. Eventually, she began to go insane, she could still hear the horrors sounds even when the found isolation in the sweet, sweet sensation of death. What time her past self came from is a mystery - perhaps she belong to an aincent civilisation a long time ago, or perhaps she came from a time that's yet to come...
However, that is the past. As soon as she was hatched, Hostess was haunted by vivid memories of her former life, her first noises were crying as she remembered the horrors she had been though. But gradually, as she grew up in the weeks that followed, she began to get to grips on her new world and soon, most of her past life faded into a blur. While she can no longer remember what it was like to be human, the images of monsters and death are burned into her head, and sometimes even simple things will bring them flooding back, and bring her to tears.

Hostess is Ji's Celestially Destined partner and first proper pokemon. Ji was wary of her at first - where she came from, yamask where considered the most evil of all ghost-types, and they should remember the spirits they contained. However, she quickly softened when she realised how scared and vulnerable seeming the little yamask was. Only time will tell how well they get along, and how strong their bond will grow.

 Extra:
- She is very scared of fighting, often cowering behind her mask to or turning to Ji to seek comfort. However, she is also very strong-willed and brave, trying her best to face her fear to do well in battle and make Ji proud. She just doesn't like being pushed too much.
- It is possible for her to share her dark memories with other people and pokemon (Dark Pulse), though she rarely does it.

// Wow ;w; What an amazing trainer~ -swoons- Anyway, I'd love to welcome you .w. [I'd also love to rp, but that can be spared for another time if you want.]  Ji is amazing looking, and it's complimented with a cool personality. You hold all my respect with how you draw Hostess. I'm horrid when it comes to drawing Yamask's ;w;

//I wanna say that with right circumstances, Madam Ji and Alice might butt heads. More so with Alice seeing as she is a bit stubborn and likes to stay on top in most situations. I'd love to see how this would play out in a roleplay. 'w'

/// Again, Welcome! Enjoy your stay and sorry for bugging you!~

When I see the name Kim Ji, it reminds me of kimchi. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimchi)

Maybe I am a little too hungry.
