Physical Description: Jackal is a very dull sandy brown color with a Brown frill and a line of dark scales with black markings. He has bright yellow eyes and a gray bandanna that he never takes off.

H I S T O R Y

(WARNING- VERY LONG BACKSTORY)
Hatchling-
He was born in Possibility a single Dragonet and lived alone with his mother, Gila. He never knew his father. His mother crafted Jewelry and sold it as a job. Jackal had always liked the shimmering of the beautiful gemstones and shining gold. She tried to teach him but he was never really good at it. They made a good living and everything was perfect.
2 year old Dragonet-
But when he was about 2 years old his mother became sick, very sick. They had gone to many doctors but none of these treatments seemed to work. Jackal had tried to create Jewelry himself so he could pay for food and medicine, but he wasn't as skilled as his mother and many customers preferred to buy from experts. Gila was only getting worse and Jackal started to panic. He started to steal food and money from other dragons but most of the time he failed and usually only returned home with scratches. One day he was being beaten up by a Skywing who caught him trying to steal some meat. Then a large dull adult Sandwing came out of nowhere and defended Jackal. The newcomer told the furious Skywing that he would take full responsibility for the Dragonets actions and fully apologized and acted like he had always known Jackal even though Jackal had no clue who he was. The Skywing bitterly accepted his apology and went back to his booth. The Sandwing then started to lead Jackal away and then he started telling Jackal advice on how to get away with stealing. Such as creating a distraction elsewhere before stealing or waiting for the vendor to be occupied with something else. The Sandwing left Jackal alone and he went back home and told his mother about what had happened, even though she seemed to always be sleeping and Jackal wasn't sure she was even listening. He went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night to find the same piece of meat he had tried to steal at his doorstep. He looked into the air and saw the mysterious Sandwing flying away…
5 year old Dragonet-
When he was about 5 years old he had learned the basic tricks of being a thief. The mystery Sandwing appeared every once in awhile to give him more tips. Gila seemed to be getting healthier with the abundance of food and water. Things were looking better. One night the Mystery Sandwing came back and asked Jackal if he knew anything about a Thieves Guild in the Desert. Jackal did not and the Sandwing told him about it. It was a large group of dragons, all of them stole stuff and all made a large profit of gold, food, and water. He told Jackal that if he joined he would have so much gold that he would never go hungry again. Jackal told him he wanted to join and asked where it was. The dragon smiled as they flew towards the desert. The dragon told Jackal that his name was Scorpion, and he was a member of the Thieves Guild. Scorpion brought him to the Guild and after a while of debating he was accepted and given tasks to complete.
7 year old Dragonet-
He was about 7 when he became truly accepted by the Guild. He became cunning and silent. Gila pretty much remained the same but Jackal was always away in the Guilds secret hideout. Even though he was the youngest member he proved he was just as good as the adults. One day Scorpion told him that a large majority of the thieves were going out to steal from some rich Sandwing. Jackal was worried about his mother and didn't want to be gone too long but Scorpion insisted. He accepted the offer and they headed off. Apparently the Sandwing lived on the outskirts of the Scorpion's Den and Jackal was told if he pulled this off he would considered an expert thief and would be given a raise. They all snuck in and things were going good until a Sandwing inside the house heard them and called for the Outclaws. They came and tried to capture them but most of them escaped. An Outclaw caught Jackal and took him back to the Scorpions Den. They beat him for information and after 5 days he gave in and told them the location of the Guild. They appreciated his corporation and spared his life, but burned a scar into his chest, marking him as Untrustworthy and a Prisoner. Jackal escaped about 3 days after that and ran straight to his home. But he came home to his mother not breathing. He called for help but no one came, Gila was dead…
The only place left for him to go was the Thieves Guild but he found that in ruins and flames. All the treasure was gone, as well as all of the members. He searched through the ruins and found a survivor. A female Sandwing, that had never really liked Jackal, was underneath some rubble bleeding out. He asked what happened and she told him that the Outlaws attacked that night and took all of their gold. The Outclaws had gloated and said that they had been told the information by one of the Guild's own members. The Sandwing saw the scar of his chest and then accused Jackal, telling him that it was all his fault and was forbidden from the Guild. Jackal argued with her saying she couldn't Forbid him because she wasn't the Leader. But she asked him if he really thought the Guild would let him come back after he destroyed the Guild and almost killed everyone. She said that Scorpion had thought he saw potential in Jackal but now he would be ashamed of him. She died right there in the place that Jackal used to consider home. He ran away, nowhere to go, and a fugitive of the law.
9 year old Dragonet-
For 2 years he had lived on the outskirts of towns, stealing food whenever he was hungry. He had stolen a bandana to hide his scar, but the Outclaws still knew his face and Jackal constantly moved place to place in order not to get caught. He heard about the Jade Mountain Academy and decided to apply so he could catch a break from the Outclaws. He told the Academy that he was an orphan and had been living on the streets all his life. Now he is at the Academy, ready to escape his past.
