trying another hard-cell shading. sorry for the lack of background lately. i'm still practicing my coloring so i try not to do drawings that are too complicated
i want to be better ...! *is frustrated

Well, I can understand wanting to be better even if others consider you good, but... "you're really good" ... XD
The background colors look good against the girl's colors, and the mooon looks great. The 'hard cel' shading is still soft, but it's really a good kind of soft. 
If you really want 'critque', all I can do is make a suggestion: hard shadowing. Unless she's looking out a window, she should be outdoors and under extreme lighting conditions: dark night, full moon. Although it's an artistic nightmare, some sharp(but soft edged) contrast might help sell the scene a little more.
Although to be honest, I personally like to see the whole subject, so the lighting you went with is really best for that - showing the whole subject.
But if you ever want to experiment, try sticking a light source like the full moon behind a character and have fun seeing what it would look like with 60%~80% opaque black over most of the character. You could always have an imperfect silhouette that has some lighting on the edges or further in than would be normal, and the black doesn't have to be 100% flat-black, but it's kind of fun to mess around with some times. X)

Wow! I love this! I think if you tried to do a more complicated background, it probably would have blurred the character. So I think the background fits the mood of the picture.
