Drawn June of 2008 in Corel Painter, Minor things done in Photoshop CS.Here's a close up of the characters . I may post it as a deviation later, cause I almost like the close up more. D:
This was a request for Pan. I owed him a drawing for quite some time. I had actually started a different one before this, but some things about it were bothering me, and I lost interest in finishing it.
So, Out came this one.
The moon was the biggest challenge. Making it cartoony, but detailed like the characters. I finally ended up using a google image as a sort of texture, then layering my out colored on textures over top. The rest was basic coloring.

I love the mood, the colours are really appropriate. The purple adds a slight touch of mystery, which given the subject matter is imo pretty fitting. The bright colours on the characters and the stars/moon look great too, they make them stand out really wonderfully.
The shading in this piece is also really amazing. It looks so smooth and soft. The purple backlight is a beautiful touch.
P.S.: I also like the crop focusing on the characters almost better, you just can appreciate the nice shading and colouring much better that way.
