Not a bad image!

Critique: For starters, is it me or does the earth look like an oval -.- Her proportions seem pretty well balanced but for some reason, I feel that we should see some of her back wing. Her positioning and the moon should share the same perspective. We're getting a very 'eye level' straight on view of Nightmare Moon, but are getting an aerial view down at the moon, they should complement each other. I do like the color palette you've chosen with the blues working against a sort of muted magenta. Her mane is also well done, and I'm sure there will be people out there saying that there is no wind in space so her mane should free flow whichever way you like. As for the stars, I feel that since it is not the focal element of this piece, you should actually tone them down a bit rather than do more with them. A simple brush can be made for stars, yes. I feel that for a larger impact, you could actually have very few stars in space and counter that with a nice balance in her mane. I get the idea from this image that its a sense of longing for the earth, yet, its drowned out a bit by the stars.

I'm sorry I couldn't give you a legit critique via the premium system, but I hope that I helped at least a little bit and wasn't hurtful in any, as it wasn't my intention.

Thank you very much, this is exactly the kind of critique i am looking for
i see what you mean about the moon, it looked wrong to me but i just couldn't figure it out. now i know why
i hadn't thought of using the background stars to compliment her mane's, i might edit some of them out to see what happens.

It seems though i'm improving my single image skills, i still have a lot to learn about composition, focus, and putting the pieces together effectively. But hey that's what learning is all about.

Thank you for the excellent critique, It was a lot of help.
