The searchlights searching for the zeppelins? Could zeppelins have their own searchlights say if they were traveling over the water? Iβm unsure of how they work, but I know they were very stable- could they theoretically have been used in rescue missions like helicopters are today? I believe aluminum was applied on the bottom of some planes to fool radar, how would zeppelins work to deflect light or detection systems?

So if zepellins/blimps were just a little more powerful, would they make good troop dropoff/pickups? Or rescuing sailors? Like the helicopter?

I was asking these questions because of Trenchpunk1914 i was wondering if say you in an era before helicopters & the dominance of the monoplane starting in the late 1920s, , and if say helium & hydrogen supplies were equally distributed across different nations, would a country have theoretically used a zeppelin to land troops on say islands where a landing zone by sea would be too contested by local defenders( like say if the defenders only had small arms- enough to give trouble to an amphibious landing but not enough big weaponry to knock planes out of the sky), would a zeppelin in that era have a reasonable ability to drop off parachute troops with light equipment? Would that specific situation in that time period be useful for zeppelins carrying parachute troops? ( I know that this wasnβt possible in real life because though parachutes were used by pilots as early as 1917, they werenβt widely used, the trade bans on helium, and a broad amount of symmetrical warfare at the time, so thereβd generally be air defenses)

Generally in racks along the ship's keel, typically amid-ship from the few resources there are to go on. While there is a good deal of knowledge on their construction, there is little practical information on the specifics of the war-time ships.

I can almost hear the throb of the engines and feel the night chill. Nice work. I love Zeppelins.

I'm glad you like this piece. And the Zeppelins were (and still are) amazing aircraft.

Wow! The spot lights add an eerie feel to this, for sure!
I can imagine being there, that night, hearing the sirens howl, and seeing the long white beams cross the chill night sky looking for the Zepp hidden in the clouds.
