Description I felt like I needed to upload a photoset of my little darling here. I'm super happy with her, even if her colors weren't perfect. But it doesn't matter since she's all mine. She's super freaking cuddly (that picture in the lower right, she's hugging my thumb, and she's just so much fun to hold and pose!)

I'm never ever giving her up!

She's five inches tall with a wire armature, with core wool felted over that, and merino top felted over that!

Gah, I just love her so much.

I take commissions for needle felted ponies and well, anything else, like this! Send me a note if you're interested.

Is there a tutorial anywhere about how to felt over wire? I've been wanting to get into felting, and this is just such a great Idea!

Here is a video www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5vnzd… that linked to me when I asked her the same question when I'd first started felting. She explains how to felt against the wire pretty well, but I'll tell you how to get started putting the wool around the armature.

Get whatever kind of wool you are using for the base (many people use core wool, which is untreated and unstraightened wool, to go underneath the colored part as it felts thicker quicker) and wrap it around the spine of what you are making. Use a good bit of wool, and when you first wrap it, it will look too poofy and big for the thing you are felting. That's fine, because felting it down will make it the right size eventually.

BUT, when you wrap it around the spine, make sure you wrap it around each leg a bit, so that if you felt it down it won't spin around the spine. Then, once you've got that all bulked out you can start adding the other limbs, and just anchoring them to the body you already felted.

This is all assuming you've read mine or a different armature tutorial, of course.

If you ever have any other questions about felting at all, feel free to ask me or send me a note! Needle felting is starting to get really popular, so I'd love to help out any beginners

do your ponies feel soft? :3 just wondering

Yes, they are incredibly soft! I use a special type of wool from Australia, it is bred specifically to be felted on top of felted projects, or to be spun for yarn for scarfs. Depending on the felt, like if it had an armature or not, they can be really squishy too!

Aww, she's so cute! I especially like how you added the magic glow in the bottom left photo, it's a creative and pretty touch. Great work, as usual.

Aw, thank you! I thought the magic glow was a cute idea, since I still have tons of the purple used for her eyes and cutie mark, and I had pretty good results using the white wool for fog so I figured it would work out nice
