Description A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... er... about three years ago in my bedroom, long before I knew that a short time from then a Phineas & Ferb Star Wars crossover would happen, the seed idea for this was planted. I was kinda bored and looking through my brother's Star Wars poster calendar one evening and suddenly was hit by inspiration. I grabbed a stray piece of notebook paper and did a P&F version of the Episode V poster, with Ferb riding on a platypus tauntaun center stage. I called it "Ferb Wars", and I had no idea what a big idea I'd just come up with.

Fact is, I've been coming up with Star Wars parodies since I first saw Episode IV in 2007. I've given everything from Garfield to SpongeBob, VeggieTales to Cars, Gravity Falls to Wander Over Yonder, all have at least had one character dressed as one of the Skywalker guys. At the time I drew the first Ferb Wars sketch, I was starting to really get into the entirety of the SW universe after years of having a somewhat passive relationship with it (I didn't fully get into it on my first viewing; it took a watching of the Clone Wars microseries and seeing Episode VI for the first time to help me truly fall in love with SW). So it was a truly exciting time to have concepted it. I originally didn't think too much further into it, but then I did this "I Love You/I Know" doodle of Phineas/Han and Isabella/Leia and I suddenly realized the true potential of this idea.

So the year passed on and by the last few days of December 2011, I had already re-watched and re-loved the Originals, seen and loved for the first time all of the Prequels, and watched and loved for the first time the first two seasons of The Clone Wars, so I was pretty much on complete and utter SW hype. For Christmas that year, one of my gifts was this gorgeous SW puzzle that was a design based off a 30th anniversary poster, so one evening, I decided to do, for whatever reason, a Ferb Wars version of the design! So yeah what you're looking at was originally drawn pen-on-paper... mostly. I drew this without any P&F reference, so some characters didn't turn out as well as I would've liked them to. Now, only Phineas/Han, Ferb/Luke, Isabella/Leia, and Candace/Vader were not redrawn. The rest of the characters were in dire need of fine-tuning to make them more true to their character and the character they're based off. So after a couple of years worth of fine-tuning, redrawing, digital coloring, detailing, and background-adding, I finally finally got this done. And certainly, finishing this was spurred on by the crossover's awesomeness. Though I admit it does feel a little weird to place them as certain characters when they were themselves in the crossover. Especially with Isabella being Leia after being a bit more Han-like in the special. So I imagine you'd like some further explanation as to why I chose which characters?

Ferb/Luke (or Ferb Skywalker): Mostly this was due to the whole Luke-Leia-Han trio thing. I've seen some parodies where they probably shouldnt've cast some characters as Luke and Leia; they look good but then there's the whole "Luke and Leia are siblings" thing and if not that then the fact that Han and Leia are completely meant for each other, so I went ahead and decided Ferb would be the best possible Luke. Plus, I couldn't help but wonder what the SW story would look like when your main character barely talks XD
Isabella/Leia (or Isabelleia Organa): This was just logical here. They're both very strong, take-charge girls. Fireside Girl Troop Leader is basically the same thing as Princess/Senator, right?
Phineas/Han (or Phin Solo): Again, it made more sense character-relationship-wise. Plus, there's something very appealing about making Phineas a bit of a scoundrel...
Baljeet/R2-D2 (or Rsquared-Dsquared): While some might've cast Baljeet as Threepio and Buford as Artoo, the astromech's small size seemed to accommodate Baljeet really easily. So you not only get a humorous personality switch between the two droids, but you get the math joke that Baljeet hates being called "Artoo" when it's appropriately "ArSquared" XD
Buford/C-3PO (or C-3Buford): The most tough, wall-of-meat guy in the room ended up as Threepio. I love the irony of this so much. The idea that he's a protocol droid who, while he can master over six billion forms of communication, is far from mannerly... or panicky... or persnickety. Ah yes, I don't think I couldn'tve found a better Threepio.
Perry/Chewbacca (or... Perrbacca? Still not sure about this one): Couldn't resist turning our favorite platypus into our favorite wookiee. Just makes sense, right? I've been trying to figure out if he'd still be an agent or not though...
Candace/Vader (or Darth Candace): The reason for this really started out with the parody title for Episode V: "The Empire Gets Busted". It just felt like the logical choice at the time. Candace often does come off as a bit of a bad guy in P&F, but she's never really a threat, whereas Vader is very much a threat, so putting her in that position was irresistible. And then, ultimately, Vader gets redeemed, and oftentimes we see that with Candace -- all about getting her bros busted but when it comes down to the wire, she does the right thing. True, casting Candace as Vader poses the difficulty of character relationship differences (so yeah Isabella isn't the only sister Ferb finds out he had...), but I love the concept too much to worry about it.
Doofenshmirtz/Palpatine (or Emperor Doofentine): The Emperor is kinda the most villainous guy in the SW universe, soooo why not give it to the most villainous guy in P&F? (Well, I guess he's the most villainous... but maybe not) And honestly, if nothing this was because Doof looks really cool Palpatine's cloak
Monogram/Obi-Wan (or Obi-Wan Monobi): Again, it just made sense. Plus, Monogram looks really cool as Ben.
Meap/Yoda (Or... well, I don't have a name for him yet): Originally, I had put Pinky The Chihuahua down as Yoda. At some point I couldn't figure out how that would really work, and then it occurred to me; DUH it should be Meap! I have no idea if Meap/Yoda just says "meap" for everything and we have to just assume what he's saying (between quiet Ferb/Luke and non-Basic-speaking Meap/Yoda that could be really weird) or if he uses some sort of translator (maybe those ears? just wondering...), but it was just too perfect a choice. I honestly can't believe I didn't figure that out sooner.
Irving/Lando (Or Irving Calrissian): Lando's an "old smoothie" and so is Irving. Made sense. Interestingly he's the only one I didn't keep the original hair color for. That was actually a mistake but honestly he wouldn'tve looked the same if he'd just had his normal red hair.
Carl/Wicket (or Wicarl): At this point I was running out of characters to use and I needed an ewok. But once I drew Carl in that fuzzy suit I came up with the idea that he's an "etern", a colony of ex-unpaid interns who live on Endor. The only thing I'm not sure of is... well... is he a human in a suit or is he actually furry? I do know that he'll speak Basic, but boy that'll be tricky to work the story around...

So in the end, I was really happy with this piece. Taking the time to draw these guys right, draw their outfits and weaponry right, and make it look cool overall was a challenge but one I was glad to have taken. And yeah I actually really want to do a comic off of this. To actually do all three of the Originals in comic form with a P&F touch is a pretty big undertaking, but one of these days I think it'd be a worthwhile effort. The gags I've come up with! Hehe...

Phineas and Ferb belong to Disney, the Star Wars elements belong to Disney/Lucasfilm, but this drawing and my concepts belong to me.
