You know, I feel like Megatron never really got over meeting the Dinobots. For the first time in his life, I think he knew he'd met his match.
You can make all the cool new combiners you want, but nothing beats the sheer ass-kickery that is Grimlock. You asked for Dinobots, you get Dinobots.

Grimlock and the Dinobots were always a much-loved bunch growing up! In the episode where Grim, Slag and Sludge were persuaded to join Megatron, Grim showed just how scary he could be.
