Description It's almost done... i should be able to get some pretty photos up tomorrow
I know it looks big, but it's exactly the size it should be. All of my weapons are scaled to each other so they match up to the in-game dimensions.

It's really nice to see someone else (vastly more skilled in this department than myself) who also values the benefits of doing most everything by hand. There's just something about it that can't be beaten, plus there's a certain artistic satisfaction despite the cramps and aches.

Just looking through your gallery and it makes me want to redo a project I'm currently working on (for the 4th time), and which is a pain in the ass to sand down and paint... OTL.

Anyway - great work! Really inspiring.

Haha, thanks. I remade it in the end... and it payed off. I was working on this crown: birdsberries.tumblr.com/post/8… It's still not 100% perfect, but so much better than the first versions D:

Thanks for the inspiring work!

Now, would you look at that beautiful thing! Oh, and there's the battleaxe as well

Sorry, couldn't resist *insert innocent face here* It looks really marvellous. You really drilled all those holes by hand with a dremel? You poor thing! I think I can relate, I've been through similar ordeal back in my days of papercraft models, so many tiny triangles to be cut around curved edges...Β

And I see some serious awesomeness in the background

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-06 04:02:30 +0000 UTC]

Haha oh, you!

Yep. All with a dremel. I had a mighty hand cramp afterward.Β
I have a geeky bedroom :3

Well, I love it, especially the motivational stormtrooper. And is that a map of Westeros in the upper left corner?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-06 14:29:57 +0000 UTC]

Haha yes... yes it is. and just off screen is a canvas the size of a double mattress with an in-progress map of middle earth

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

P3X310 In reply to TheAnti-Lily [2014-02-06 17:41:43 +0000 UTC]

Is it this one? antilily.tumblr.com/image/7493…
Or are you working on an even more dazzling, astounding and otherwise stupefying work of art?
Either way, you never cease to amaze me, the map is just brilliant!

I hate asking this question, but is there any way to get my filthy hands on a masterpiece such as this one? Did you ever consider selling?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-06 23:34:16 +0000 UTC]

MORE DAZZLING!!
That was just a test to see what colour paints i'd need. But i'm talking FULL ON map of middle earth. That thing is huge.Β
Are we talking about the axe or the map here?Β
If it's the axe, i'm getting some help from some lovely people on this site about how to get started with selling casts of these things. It'll probably be a matter of getting deposits of a minimum number of people so i can actually afford the resin and silicone for it (which is crapptonne expensive in australia) Soooo they won't be a bargain.
But to answer the question plainly, yes. I fully intend to sell these as cold cast copies

P3X310 In reply to TheAnti-Lily [2014-02-07 09:57:23 +0000 UTC]

That's both great and terrible news, since my studies and uncertain summer job have failed to make me a millionaire yet the shipping to our little country in the heart of Europe will probably be quite expensive too, right?

But if I were to speak about the map, the little one, would that be available, or does it carry too much of a sentimental value for you to part with it? A package that size might just be in my price range

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-07 13:32:32 +0000 UTC]

Ahh yes, summer jobs really rake in those dollars, don't they...
I have nooooo idea how much shipping would be for any of my things. That will be apart of the research i guess.
And regarding the little map, i'm not really attatched to it, so it may be possible to sell it (let me think on it )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

P3X310 In reply to TheAnti-Lily [2014-02-07 16:32:49 +0000 UTC]

That would be grand!

And hey! I almost forgot to freak out about the map! You are seriously working on something that huge and awesome?! The respect has been doubled! Need photos, now! *faints from excitement*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-09 05:15:43 +0000 UTC]

I sure am! Still working out the perfect parchment tones for it though, i've gone through that many sample canvases trying to nail one down, still not happy with any just yet. But i will surely post that when it's on it's way to looking like something other than a giant white rectangle.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

P3X310 In reply to TheAnti-Lily [2014-02-09 09:00:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can always sell a white rectangle claiming it to be a piece of modernist art, fortune guaranteed

Well, a little foolish question, but what's wrong with the way you made the little one? Can't the same technique be applied here?
No rush, take your time. We'll wait for it to be berfect

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to P3X310 [2014-02-09 09:45:23 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, i've even seen a white piece of canvas with a hole slashed through it sell for a kings ransom.

You see, i'm extremely picky... and my bedroom walls are a creamy colour. I'm trying to find the perfect balance of tones so it doesn't blend into my wall too much.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

P3X310 In reply to TheAnti-Lily [2014-02-09 11:51:45 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see. That would sort of diminish the beauty of it, wouldn't it?

I've never had an eye for colour combinations, maybe because I'm a man and we are famous for colour ignorance
I would plant it on a wall whatever the colour and admire the heck out of it anyway

And are you going to write the names on it in English or dwarven runes? Or maybe even Elven writing?

hand sanding. It's tedious but you have a lot more control.

Thanks heaps Where most people see a nice clean line, i see so many imperfections. So hours are spent making the lines clean and crisp until i'm satisfied
It's hard work being a perfectionist :/

Alot of the mods were a bit too much really, but there are some gems on there, like the hobbit hole and some of the treehouse mods. Most of the graphics mods are hard to get right through steam workshop though, you should check out nexus mods

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheAnti-Lily In reply to Venegal [2014-02-05 04:47:01 +0000 UTC]

Haha, thaaanks. There are 7 different materials that make up this axe head but none of them are clay. It's actually thousands of tiny holes drilled into styrene with a dremel engraving bit. It took 2+ hours and what felt like a broken hand.
