Description This year's Christmas card offers an unique Rothinghamian perspective on the holiday season. The joy of standing in line, spending all your savings on trivial gifts that will be shelved away and working countless extra shifts to handle all the extra business while being yelled at for not ringing the items in the right order.

Also, the first fully shaded version of the main protagonist of my new franchise. She looks a lot like Korie from Trio Solution, but I assure that what I have in store for her will make her an entirely different character: for the better. One of which is that like most of Rothingham, she's a working drone in retail.

Available as a print, so that you can surprise your family and friends with this rather unusual Christmas card.

"Also, the first fully shaded version of the main protagonist of my new franchise." HA, yeah, right. Good one, Artrix. You know how to make a joke five years in advance.

HAHAHAHA
"Uranus Superstore"
May that be a parody of a certain german electronics store chain?

That would be correct.

As with a lot of your pictures, I really appreciate the detail here, from the posture of the girl to the cobwebs on the "wuppie". Also, I sympathize with her; especially at this time of year, I'd much rather be anywhere but work.

At one of the 20 certified Junk Industries resellers spread all across Rothingham.

(Which isn't much when you consider that Rothingham, as far as we know, does not seem to end anywhere).

This is probably where I should point out that this is a final-ish design for the character for my new series that is going to take place in Rothingham, after T3NSP.

Really? Oh God, awesome! Ok, then. I'll be watching for the sequel. But for now, excellent progress with T3NSP.

ok...im asking... whats a wuppie? it looks like it could have been 'cute' at one time...

Czarine-the-Restless In reply to Ethereal-Glutton [2010-12-08 15:31:58 +0000 UTC]

For each, say... 15eur you spent at an Albert Heijn during the 2006 Football world cup, you'd get a tiny little orange mascot called 'wuppie'. You could stick them to practically anything, so they were a fun way to decorate stuff.

They're arguably among the most annoying aspects of Dutch popular "culture". They're essentially little balls made of a synthetic fur with cardboard/plastic feet and eyes attached to them. They're ridiculously popular in retail (particularly grocery stores) as a gift for buying a certain amount during events such as soccer finals and other holidays.

What makes them annoying is that they wind up everywhere while they serve no purpose what so ever, yet, everyone wants them.

Ethereal-Glutton In reply to TheArtrix [2010-12-12 17:53:00 +0000 UTC]

we used to have something like that around here... but they had little skinny plastic antennae that always broke off. now you get them when you give to charities or as gifts for attending events...

i think someone gave one to me for prom... before my date stood me up. i didnt look fondly on that poofball after that ^_^;

Man I Simply Love This Card!!

Represents the Realistic Side Of Xmas For many People.

Where Love and Caring for others are converted to hate and frustration, I'm going to spend My Xmas On This Darker side, I've Been told in the office that we'll spend our holidays Working extra hours...

Sad but True

Great Work!

TheArtrix In reply to Furboz [2010-12-12 20:17:32 +0000 UTC]

It seems everyone needs to work more, which is ironic. The season that is promoted as a time of joy is extra stressful because in order to bring joy, more labor is needed to provide for the extra services. It's a vicious circle.

The only ones that profit are those on the top who have so much money that Christmas is just a nice excuse to spend it.
