Maybe these are earlier designs? I think I remember reading that the claws on the gargoyles were streamlined for animation, and that Elisa was changed to look more like Salli Richardson.

Yeah, maybe. Elisa's model is almost there except for the skin color and a few other things look a little off compared to the show. This could've been one of the final design/color palettes before a few refinements changed things here and there.

Yeah, I'm glad these weren't the final colors for Xanatos. I would have a hard time taking him seriously if he wore a purple jacket.

It's almost the exact same as his action figure that came with the XI-44 roadster that "converts to armed getaway vehicle". Another reason why I think it was geared towards merchandise.

Probably was. But just as likely, it was before the models were truly finalized. You should see these models of the Pack. Didn't make it into the show, but made it into the Marvel comic: [link]
I have that Xanatos figure, I took brown paint to his hair and beard and grey paint to his jacket.

Yeah, I've got a copy of the series bible and thank christ they fixed Dingo before appearing in the cartoon.

Same, bought it on ebay about twelve years ago. Lots of old designs in there. Older draft too, Bronx is still a "Gargoyle Dog" instead of a "Gargoyle Beast." Elisa is the middle child and Derek is the oldest... which would change their dynamic entirely.
