The Australian White Ibis is a wading bird of the Ibis family. This species of bird whilst being closely related to the African Sacred Ibis it is deemed as a native Australian Bird and is not considered a feral species. This species of bird's natural habitat includes wetlands and marshes where they will spend most of their time. Due to a loss of habitat mostly due to human development this species of bird has increasingly been seen living in more urban areas alongside other urban dwelling birds such as pigeons and doves. This bird has adjusted to urban living so well that it has acquired a variety of nicknames such as the "tip turkey" or "bin chicken". This bird has recently become part of Australian pop culture and can be referred to these nicknames either with glee by some or revulsion by others.
