So was looking through older folders in one of my External HD's and stumbled upon this piece.Did this Last year whilst I was in Canada.
Staying at Kwibi's joint, I wanted to play around with her Cintiq 21UX.
Felt hella weird, lemme tell ya. A fun experience, but different.
I think I'm just so used to my regular Intuos2 setup.
*shrugs*
Anyway to test out the Cintiq, I figure I'd draw up Strider.
Originally I was gonna draw Captain Commando or even Jin, but as you can see here, I went w/ Strider.

I get this is an action scene and the technical skill at play here is remarkable but this just looks phenomenally awkward. Nothing seems right, it's halfway between bizzare abstract and realistic. The perspective is just so frickin awkward. Sorry.

It appears to make sense to everyone else too. It seems to just be me. In which case you can not be blamed for disregarding my comment.
It just looks very awkward and unnatural. The action doesn't appear (to me) to conform to the perspective.

This is the kind of art I need to be doing more often. There's nothing lifeless or stiff about this. It's an epic piece, and yet feels like it's very straightforward, I almost feel I could say 'simple'. And it's the simple things that are the hardest to get right and the most powerfully profound when they work. Wonderful.

Great action shot. Brings back all the memories of those hours spent trying to get the triangle jump down when I should have been doing homework.... Great perspective and use of the speed lines.
