Whew, after forever I FINALLY finished my Fantasy inspired Viking helm. ("Fantasy inspired" edit added to deter uppity history peoples taking time to give me guff about the term viking in an ART PIECE of armor I made knowing full well what a historically accurate helm looks like, but I don't give a damn because I MADE IT how I want it, so jog on.)Β Thanks to leatherhelms for the horsehair ponytail...the last thing i needed to complete it!Related content

Nicely done. I'm starting my 1st Leather Viking helm. My ancestry is Swedish Norwegian. You and I both have artistic interpretation and can make them any dam way we please. I plan on including the horse hair and horns as well. I don't own a museum, so I can make it any way I please. the comments below about historical blah, blah, blah is just bs. This is a beautiful piece of functional art. Very cool!

it can be for a decent price. It's an original and the only one I've made or will make like it. (i hate duplicating!) It's being used in a film shoot at the moment though :/

No offense mate but that is utterly daft... remove the ponytail and the horns and you have a viking helmet in leather but this... this is, I don't know what this is.... Skyrim reject I would guess, maybe some helmet from a fantasy RPG...

You may want to consider your group's shoes and battle gloves before getting on any type of pedestal spouting about historical authenticity, my friend.
People like you and I can yammer on about how viking helms never had horns until our beards grey out, but the false image people associate with the norse will never change.
You can, however, do your best to stay true to this history you seem so arrogantly proud of, and lose those lacrosse gloves of yours.

only mild offense taken on yer lack of tact. I realize, historically speaking, that viking helms were quite plain and didn't have horns, that only certain helmets had horns (ceremonial and the like) and while history is quite good, some of us aren't so rigid in artistic license. This was inspired by Pathfinder and their take one vikings and horn placement, the ponytail added accent to it, and despite your semi-insulting review of "skyrim reject" it's gotten a lot of great feedback. so, I'm gonna go with that.

I have ideas....no patterns. You really only need three leather strips framing around the head, over and across and then some triangle pieces of leather to go between. :]

Want some goat horns or antlers?? I have a pair of goat horns that are nice and some antler bits. As well as a great connection to get em. Including cow and buffalo horns
