Description Stardate 1/6507.15, Captain Hjalmar Olafsson reporting.

This is my last message. Our only hope is that the recorder marker is found before our attackers reach into Federation space.
We were transporting cargo to the newly established Hungarian colonies in the Western border region when a vessel of unknown design attacked us. They incapacitated the Warp and impulse engines and boarded the ship.
At first, we thought they let some kind of animals upon us, for the beasts massacred their way deck through deck. But then we realized that the beasts are the invaders themselves.
Internal cameras show some kind of tall, bipedal creature, more feline than humanoid. It is sentient, using computer terminals to access our own sensor data. But I have seen it with my very eyes as it cannibalized one of my crewmembers. It's tall and muscular, a predator. The apex predator of space.
I hear them clawing at the bridge turbolift door. I am launching this final message in the hope that Huankind will learn to defend itself against these... these lions of the night.

This was Captain Hjalmar Olafsson, USS Roberta.

I'm guessing that's a log buoy...?

well if only the warp engines were down, maybe they're was enough power to overload the core, nothing like a massive explosion and going down fighting to give the enemy a few thoughts about humanity... but if not i hope he went quickly, and took some with him...

Good job!

I hope so. The Kzinti like to play with their food before they eat it...

My hope is that the good captain hit the auto-destruct right after he pushed launch for the probe, let thos cats know that we primates don't always go quietly.

Given that it was a cargo ship... I doubt it had self-destruct...

Reminds me of the data recorder that was beamed aboard the Enterprise in the very first episode of Star Trek. I believe the episode is Where No Man Has Gone Before. Could be wrong.

Indeed. The Cats remained Humankind's worst nightmare for the upcoming century.

Been making log buoys now from Daedalus class ships? Nice scene Dave, nobody else to my knowledge has done anthing similar.

I'm glad you like it.

I think it's a generic old log bouy, I based it upon... well, the only one seen in Trekdom

I have seen another model of it, but mine is more detailed.

I found the background image by accident, it looked like something out of 2001, so...
