The light coming from the main deflector of the Enterprise is a double entendre for the blue star sun of the system. The duality here being that the star's energy and power are what gives life to the system and so too then the power of the Enterprise is what protects and sustains life by overpowering that which would cause death.
In my initial review, I was perhaps too critical of this art. What I still believe is that the composition is at an odd angle; that too much is trying to be put into getting rid of the negative space in this piece.
What I would suggest is a rearrangement of the ships, so that the Enterprise still reflects the life giving sustenance of the system's star, while putting the K'tinga in a more direct line of site: Star => Enterprise foreward firing on the K'Tinga's aft <= Blue Shift to Red => K'Tinga with Red Torpedo Glow anticipating to fire on the Colony.
This would put the life force of the star into the Enterprise and be shown to obliterate what would come between the "Light of Life" and what it would care to impart its gift toward, in this case, the Colony, and obliterate death by proxy through its agent, the indefatigable U.S.S. Enterprise.

This would look better without the phaser fire or the K'tinga. It's just an odd angle of phaser fire for the overall composition. I realize the Enterprise could do what is being portrayed, I only suggest, in my opinion, it would look better if the Enterprise were alone in this composition.

They just added the WoK style pulse phasers to STO too. I got some for my Excelsior on my TLE character, very fitting and they work well.
