Description

Updated depiction and rough illustration of them, now with faces and colours!

Anyways here are the bios if you're interested, enjoy!:

W&S 1 'Walney' (the Dark Green Tank Engine), an 0-6-0ST named after the Walney Channel (since he was the first on the railway to arrive) was built in the western region of England and came straight to the railway in 1870 to aid in construction of the railway, he was originally only a contracters engine until he was bought in 1872 after proving himself to be quite a valuable asset to the line. he only just survived WWI having a couple of narrow escapes, on the NWR he still proved useful working as a shunter and utility engine on parts of the mainline despite bigger and newer engines coming around, in 1924 he became the new pilot at Vicarstown until he had an accident in the early 1930's he was then replaced with Matthew (the Little Blue Tank Engine) who at the time was being replaced by Percy at Tidmouth. Fortunatly due to his fairly clean record he was put aside instead of being scrapped and by the late 1930's he was back in working order. He went back to his utility and shunting duties afterwards but on various lines, he now mostly works on the Kirk Ronan with Fergus and occaisionally visits the Little Western as he's especially great friends with Duck and Oliver being the Western engines they are.

W&S 2 'Maura' (named after a river on Sodor) is a 0-6-0WT built in 1868 and originally worked on the Midland Railway until 1872 when she was bought and arrived on the W&S to help out, she proved to be quite the worker and being the eldest she is the glue that holds the W&S gang together whenever there was conflict. Throughout her time on the NWR she worked on various lines around the island until one day she needed a major overhaul which proved expensive and was out of action until the Vicarstown Rail museum was opened and made a new home there, she was eventually overhauled by the volunteers there and soon enough was back in steam. She now runs occasionally hauling specials and excursion trains, even helping out on the NWR with light work from time to time.

W&S 3 'Tid' (Also named after a river on Sodor) was an LBSCR E1 0-6-0T ordered sometime in the 1880s and was built in 1891 to unique specifications as improvements over the original class' design and worked swiftly in practice, becoming the line's express engine sometime after he arrived and doesn't mind any work he's given (unlike most express engines). After he joined the NWR he was jokingly numbered Zero since he was somewhat of a mentor (and like a big brother) to Thomas. Later he was installed with push pull equipment but the trial failed as the controls didn't connect properly and the train derailed plunging down a ravine. Sadly, Tid was beyond repair after that and due to the great depression had to be sold for scrap.

W&S 4 'William Charles' (named after the second controller of the W&S) nicknamed "Silly Billy" (much to his disliking) was a Manning Wardle L class 0-6-0ST that arrived in the late 1890's due to the newer controller liking the examples of Manning Wardles on the mainland. The fact he was named after an important figure went to his head and therefore considered himself the most important, despite that he gets his work done even when it's tasks he hates. He didn't last too long on the NWR however as he got into a fight with a bigger engine, although it was verbal at first he provoked the engine enough to get physical and the engine bashed him into and through a siding. It caused so much damage he couldn't run anymore and was sold off in the early 1920s to an industrial railway as use for spare parts.

Commentary: So you might notice a few details, yes I named them after bodies of water (with the exception of number 4) from different parts of the Island. And as the base for engines 1 & 4 maybe obvious, I based 2 & 3 only on obscure illustrations, for Maura she was supposedly an illustraion error of James along with another random red tank engine out of a magazine illustration and for Tid he's meant to be that grey tank engine next to Thomas in a picture frame from a book illustration (and kinda sorta maybe based aspects of him from the fan character Timothy lol). engine 4's livery is inspired by K&ESR 14 'Charwelton''s brown livery as i didn't know what other color to make him (i was considering either orange or purple but then the parrallels between him and 2 other characters would be blatantly obvious).
