It was at an auto salvage yard in Cookeville Tennessee.

That's not bad at all.Β Most of the rust here is just surface rust and peeling/baked paint. Metal underneath is solid. The insides of the front and rear quarters are VERY clean, and the bumpers look solid too. B-pillar definitely needs some new metal, though. Not sure about the frame or the trunk floor (seals get old, let water in, and bad things happen), but even if those were shot, this car's still very much fixable.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Silly me not paying enough attention.... those door trim pieces can convey the appearance of a B pillar from some angles!Β

It's quite a problem for American cars of the late 50s, they all look pretty sinister. I admit the MKIII was never the most handsome Continental ever made but this one should at least be restored.

That severely rusted '58 Lincoln Continental III desperately needs restoration work done on it immediately!

I don't understand anything about cars, but all I can tell is that this thing would be beau~tiful after patchin' 'er up.

No B-Pillar, big as a boat, prime candidate for a restomod, or even just a full original restoration...what a beautiful car....I prefer the later model Conti's, but this one is still a nice find!

I read a road test of this car in a magazine. The title was "BOAT". That's all that was necessary.

Ahh patinas in right now, replace the motor, rehab the suspension, bagged it throw some Indian/Mexican blankets in it, replace the glass you're good to go.............and if worse comes to worse you can put the headlight assemblies in a 53-55 f100 with a tube or doorknob grille

I would save chrome for last as long as the engine and the base of the whole thing works that is the most important then see about reupholstering the sets then carpet and last paint. In my retrospect, if you have time and money for it

Sounds like a good plan, assuming of course, as you said, you had the time, and more importantly, the money to do the restoration.
