Shapers

When the humans migrated to the underground after The Calamity , they were surprised to find a unique race already living there. They are called shapers due to their main activity of shaping and cultivating magical crystals from the local rocks. They are peculiar creatures, as some of them seem to display person-like sentience while others tend to act autonomously in their crystal tending duties. The crystals they make serve a variety of purposes, their most popular exports are conduit crystals, which serve as power storage and amplifiers for magical energies, Sun crystals, which glow and produce similar radiation to the sun, allowing for plant life to thrive and exist even hundreds of feet below the Earth's surface, and the very rare Origin crystals, which take a very long time to grow and can generate near limitless magical energies on their own with just a spark of energy. They currently have decent standing with the magical human society who offer them protection and new rocks from far off lands in exchange for the crystals that they cultivate.
