Description The Baur's Coelophysis is a common sight in the Late Triassic. Coelos are somewhat gregarious by nature, and travel in loose flocks, though they do not hunt in packs. Moderately dangerous.

He reminds me of the "Snake Phantom" of Ghost Ranch. Paranormalists believe the "ghost" was once a coelophysis or phytosaur, hence making it the planet's oldest known ghost! It's even in guiness world records!

That sounds fascinating. You have a link?

no, but you can simply google it. It's also on the guiness world records site, I think.

I believe it's called "vivaron the snake demon".

I doubt Coelophysis had feathers.

Why?

gdog00 In reply to TheMorlock [2012-06-02 21:56:13 +0000 UTC]

Because it's too early in it's evolution to have feathers.

Where in dinosaur evolution do you think feathers started?

In the early Jurassic.

Hmm. It's still pretty speculative, but for now I'm sticking with the theory that feathers are homologous with pterosaur pycnofibres and thus where present in the earliest dinosaurs. There is evidence of feathers in both saurischians and ornithischians, so it's very likely common ancestor of both was feathered.
