Makoto’s mom let me go and I went to Makoto in his room. His room was really clean and plain. He had his swim club jacket on a hook near his desk. His desk was a little messy yet clean, he obviously used it a lot. He was a great student in literature but lacked in English and art. The thing I was drawn two were the two bookcases. He had a small one by his desk filled with books but the other one had trophies, pictures, mementos, and everything to give you the feel of a person.

Since Makoto wasn’t in here just yet I went over to it. There were pictures of him and Haru, some with the full team and one with a younger team. The younger team photo was with Haru, Nagisa, Rin and Makoto. The picture was placed next to a trophy as well as a photo of a tree. I took the picture of the tree. The bricks at the bottom of the cherry blossom tree. “For the team.” “Free.”

Those were what I read before I heard. “Snooping?” Makoto asked. I jumped a little.

“No. No, I wasn’t,” I said softly.

“It’s okay, (Name)-chan,” he said. I don’t know why but I loved when he added chan to the end of my name. “Oh you’re looking at that picture? We did that for the swim club when I was younger.”

“That’s amazing,” I smiled.

“Really? I didn’t think you’d find these interesting at all,” he said with a little blush.

“So then the exam is in English. Where should we start?” I asked.

“Uh, it’s over chapters four through five, right?” he asked.

“Yep,” I said.

After that we sat on his bed and studied. He sat on the top of his bed and I saw at the foot of it. Makoto now had on glasses. It made him look even cuter, if that was possible. He looked lost a lot of the time but didn’t say anything. So I helped him a lot but acted like I didn’t know how to do it and then said right at the end. He caught on and it helped him out a lot.

I saw his door open, or rather creak open a little, every so often. I caught Ren and Ran every so often. They’d blush and run away. Ran would run away giggling. Makoto looked up and at his door. “Sorry. I guess they’re curious,” he smiled.

“It’s okay. They are really cute. Protective of their older brother,” I said.

“Protective?” he asked.

“Makoto, you’re a guy and I’m a girl . . . we’re alone . . . in your room.” I said shyly.

He blushed. “B-But it’s not like that,” he said. “But I can see how they’d think that.”

“Why’s that?” I asked.

“You’re the first girl I’ve ever brought home before,” he said. I blushed at that. I felt special in a way right then.

“I-I am?” I asked.

“Yeah. I didn’t want to bring home just any girl,” he said. ‘just any girl?’ What did he mean by that? I didn’t have a chance to ask him. We went back to studying. It was nice and relaxing. He had his funny moments when he mispronounced something.

I fell back onto his bed. “Can we please take a break?” I asked.

He chuckled. “Sure thing,” he said. “I was about to ask the same thing.” He closed the books and moved them. “So how did you get so good at speaking English?”

“My parents. They made me learn it early since they went to America,” I said.

“Oh yeah that’s right,” he said. “You’re really smart, (Name)-chan.”

“I . . . thank you,” I said with a little smile.

“I really appreciate you studying with me. I need all the help I can get. Usually Haru helps me but he was busy. Besides I wanted to hang out with you more.” He smiled. “Since our plan got canceled.”

“Yeah who knew it was going to rain today? There wasn’t a cloud in the sky,” I said looking out his window. “I love to watch it rain, it’s so calming.”

“I suppose it is,” he said. He looked to be calming down as he watched it but then he just laid down to look at the ceiling. Did I do something wrong? Was I annoying him?

“W-What’s wrong?” I asked when I got enough courage to.

“Huh? Oh it’s nothing,” he smiled. “Hey, have you read a lot of books?”

“Eh? Yeah but not as much as your collection,” I said. “But why?”

“A romance book I’m reading. I wonder how it ends. Somewhat popular guy meets a complete no one but she feels she’s not important but he proves that she isn’t. What happens after I wonder,” he said.

“I don’t know. I think they’d get together for some scene and then they’d probably kiss in that scene.” I said.

“But how would it lead to that point,” he asked.

“Probably him holding her, her slipping into his arms, or something like that,” I said. “I didn’t think you’d like romance books.”

“Oh I’m reading it to my sister. I read them so much I get involved with them.” He said. I don’t know why but that was so sweet to me. Makoto really did seem like such an amazing guy. He was really caring and loved his siblings, which was good because it was obvious they loved him more than anything.

“(Name)? One more question. Are you going to the dance?” he asked. He was talking about Samezuka Academy dance. Their swim club invited our swim club to join and have fun there as well.

“I don’t know yet to be honest,” I said. I really didn’t Kou wanted me to go so badly. So much she let me borrow a dress. I didn’t even look at it yet. I wouldn’t really have fun since everyone would have fun and I’d be on my own watching people have fun.

“Please. I think it’d be more fun with you there.” He smiled sweetly.

“W-Why do you say that?” I asked nervously and tried to hide myself in my hair.

“Because it would. What I’m asking is would you like to be my date for the dance, (Name)-chan.” He smiled.

I looked over to him and blushed a new shade of red. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it in my ears. He took my hand and it got even louder and faster. I couldn’t think because my head was all over the place. My head felt like a balloon, like it was that light. When I looked up at him to see his smiling face I saw the corner of my eyes fading into darkness. Soon I heard a thud and saw I landed on Makoto’s lap as everything faded into darkness.
