Description Cupcakes for my future father-in-law's birthday. He was recently in California and there was a fatal shark attack there, which I did not know about. Ooops.

Anyways, chocolate and yellow cupcakes decorated with buttercream frosting. Sharks made with #8, #3, and #2 tips.

Do you always use buttercream frosting for the making of objects such as animals and such? When would you recommend royal icing over buttercream frosting?

You could definitely use royal icing! The figures would last longer that way, you could save them for later use as well. I use buttercream mostly just because that's what I have available at work. I have been thinking about the possiblity of making some with royal icing so I would be able to sell some...

Nope, the lady that ordered them wanted sharks for her son because he likes sharks. When I think of sharks I think 'lots of teeth!'

Those are so cute! I could almost see them being used by a dentist to encourage kids to brush their teeth or something. Because sharks have lots of teeth to brush.

Too bad they're so sugary... hard to teach a kid about good dental hygiene while rotting their teeth.

The title reminds me... I work at a vet clinic, and we recently had to do dental work on a little chihuahua we nicknamed Shark bite. That thing was NASTY. We had to pick it up with a towel so it couldn't bite us.

They do. And they have nasty, sharp, pointy little teeth. At first, Shark Bite only didn't like me- she snapped at me when Brittany was holding her, and wouldn't let me pick her up when she was in her cage. But then Dr. Chu tried to pick her up and couldn't, so I felt better. Still, I'd rather deal with a chihuahua than a shark any day. Although I'd much rather eat these yummy shark cupcakes than wrestle with a land-shark chihuahua.
