I read about mermaids, I listen siren themed music, I eat fish, I draw mermaids... *ahem* My entry for the Onmyoji Fan Art Contest . Hadn't ever heard of the game before, but it looked quite promising and there truly is so many characters I'd like to draw it was hard to pick only one. To be honest I didn't think of doing Koi, at first. I think there were others with more dazzling design, but somehow when nothing worked I came back to my 'plan b'. The zip assets didn't work for me but I ended up playing the game, instead. And Koi there was one of the shikigami I got and I think I started to like her design more when she actually appeared to me in the game. ^^ I should have given the contest a try earlier, instead of panicking at the last/second last day of which character to pick and what to draw. But sometimes life has other plans that go ahead of logic...

Hoorray, black paper is back! I found the Fabriano one, turns out the store had it after all! And next time I'll have to get more coloured pencils...

Participating in contests is fun as they always make you try something new. Don't think I've ever given foam a try till now. Water scenes aren't my expertise either, but I had quite fun with it, regardless. There were some camera issues though, the thing seems to hate this type of media. :S

Tools: Caran d'Ache coloured pencils, Rembrandt soft pastels and kneaded eraser.
