Description So. Ye've most likely seen my most recent journal entry about this... how my brain is quite literally sneaking into my spinal column, where it ought not be, and how there's no fluid around the base of my brain.

This is called "Arnold-Chiari Malformation", and ye can find out about it here at the wonderful world of -
"WINKIPEDIA! BE NICE TO SNAILS! STARS AND GUITARS AND WHATNOT! TEA AND CRUMPETS, I'M BRITISH TOO, OF COURSE!"

Yes, thank you, Dr. Bri. Here we go - [link]

But... the point of this stamp, is that I'm trying to have more of a sense of humor about it, rather than getting all terrified and morbid. I'm NOT going to die if I have anything to say about it, and if worst comes to very worst, they'll simply drill a hole in my skull and be done with it!

But seriously. My loves here have cheered me up enough, and was awesome enough to suggest I make a shirt that says this... or at the very least, a stamp.

I suggest using it not only to show support for me and AC-M -suffering people, but... DOES your brain ever feel like it's leaking? Mayhap around EXAM TIME, or the Christmas season if you work in retail/have a lot of people to shop for? Then this is the stamp for you!

Loves.

LMAO Thanks for this, It made me smile. I found out recently I might possibly need to get the surgery, because it's giving me migraine like headaches, involuntary eye movement, and black-out type episodes. Glad to find someone who can put some humor into it β™₯

<3 I like looking at this with a positive outlook: There are people with much worse Chiari's, and some that have ones and don't even know it. At least I know what I have and know a surgery to make it better. At first I was letting the term 'brain surgery' get to me, but it isn't like it's that big of a deal. I wouldn't freak out if I needed like, arm surgery for instance, so if I get brain surgery I'm not going to let that freak me out either. It honestly is a good thing.

Great to hear that you're trying to see the funny side. I always do that in bad situations...sometimes it's inappropriate. x3 It must run in the family as my grandpa does the same thing- when my great great aunt died, the funeral was delayed because the hearse crashed. My grandpa announced to a room filled with her family and friends, 'Oh well, at least no one died!'

Another thing that might make you laugh: I've been picturing your condition as a litte personified brain tiptoeing shiftily towards your spine, and your spine's looking shocked like 'WELL EX-CUUUUUSE ME! D8<'

Oh, and the name makes me think of Arnold from the cartoon Hey Arnold! having a nice Chianti, fufufufufu. xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheSylverLining In reply to lady-hoot [2008-12-28 01:52:40 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you so much. <3 Yeah - it's more fun that way. I've been very nice to myself the past few days, staying mostly offline and putting off responsibilities for a bit of resting, playing videogames and eating lots of fruit. AHAHH CLEMENTINES OH MAH DARLIN OH MAH DARLIN.

Your. Grandpa. Is awesome. xD HAaaa.

Honestly - I've never thought funerals should be as sad as they are. Because - well, maybe it's just me who so firmly believes in an afterlife or some sort of continuation that's a hell of a lot better than anything we have here, and that the people we love are never really gone from us, that... I dunno, it should be a celebration of the peoples lives, and that they've transcended into something better, not lamenting the fact that they're dead.

I want a combination of an Irish wake and New Orleans funeral parade. A service with lots of Queen music playing, then an upbeat jazzy procession (I insist that The Viper is played, and maybe some Kanno Yoko music from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack) and then a party with lots of drinking and balloons and streamers afterwards.

I'm not trying to be morbid... though I have given a lot of thought to my funeral lately... it's something that I actually quite enjoy thinking about.

I LOVE YER BRAIN PERSONIFICATION. NOW I WANT TO DRAW IT.

And. I LOVED HEY ARNOLD. It used to be on still, on random weekdays. Now I miss it again.

lady-hoot In reply to TheSylverLining [2008-12-29 01:05:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I want a fun funeral. Actually, I was to play some really depressing music and black banners everywhere, then just as everyone starts crying (everyone will be inconsolable in my absence, you see) rainbow banners will unfurl from the ceiling over the black ones and loud party music shall be played. And everyone will talk about the GOOD TIMES and have a right old piss-up. >8D

It is actually pretty fun to think about. Although I never have anyone to plan it with because my friends say it's too morbid and my mum gets panicky and yells at me if I ever mention my death. xD Which is rather sweet, I suppose.

Hey Arnold was awesome. That and Arthur were my two favourites. :3

LOL this is the Sylver we know....lol'ing at her brain slipping down her spine. I love that you are able to find the humorous side of this scary situation, that's incredibly brave, and something not many of us would be able to do. It's something Freddie would do. I love it.

TheSylverLining In reply to elizabethmuller [2008-12-24 01:49:58 +0000 UTC]

Aww. Honey, thank you. That's seriously the best thing anyone could say to me right now, that it's what Freddie would have done. (Jeez, I should make a wristband, "WWFD?" xD Hey, even Roger wants to know.) That just... the best I can hope to do in a situation like this. <3

Heeee. It's way more fun, anyway!
