Description
Somewhat inspired by warp-y 's great and thought-provoking headcanons regarding these three, I started to think a bit on MK, Sword and Blade's sort-of relationship. And so, I was wondering.. did Meta Knight effectively "adopt" his two knaves after meeting them? Like, they were pretty much homeless and (presumably) orphaned, so who's to say MK didn't start thinking of them as his.. kids?Maybe he trained them himself and taught them all about swordplay and the like. Maybe he.. got mad at them for not doing their chores, lol. Maybe he watched them while they were sleeping to make sure they had good dreams I DON'T KNOW.
I'm just thinking that maybe he wasn't so completely cold with them and actually cared for the two acolytes, ya know? So, because of all he did, here's Sword and Blade returning the favour (kinda... in their own way...) and giving him a hug as thanks for everything. I guess. Gee.. I didn't think this'd turn out so dangΒ mushy, lol...

Ahh yes my headcanons regarding the Knights have finally been gaining ground! heh heh...
In all seriousness and honesty though, I like to think of their sort-of relationship as not quite the professional knight-and-knave sort of business (as if Meta Knight's their employer), yet not quite the mentorlike relation that Meta Knight has with Kirby either...so they probably have some combination of both. 'Cause it's not like Meta Knight could pick up two random kids off the street and be like "hey, an intergalactic conqueror destroyed your world, so come with me to Dreamland to await the savior of the universe and build a battleship in my basement" without some credibility and trust.
I also love how Meta Knight's eyebrow game is so strong that they show from behind his mask.

I wholeheartedly agree; if I remember correctly, I think one of them stated that they'd be willing to give their lives to Meta Knight if needed, so I can definitely see that being an indication that they're more than just simple followers or his students (like with Kirby). I think they really hold him in a high regard andΒ MK reflects that with how he treats them...
Similarly,Β I also headcanon that they were sort of distrustful of MK at first; I wonder what he did to make the two former bandits trust him completely?

I certainly think Sword and Blade have a very healthy relationship with Meta Knight (but so much that they start hugging them, I don't know xD). Them seeing him as a father figure is sort of an adorable idea, that I can approve of.
You did a pretty good job on this one. Especially the shading is very consistent and nice to look at. Maybe you could have made MK's a wee bit bigger so that his expression is more noticable, but slender eyes are sorta part of your style so you can ignore my suggestion if you want to xD
