You have to remember that mythologicals usually live much longer than the common crowd in this furry AU earth, I've got some fantastic beasts living for up to 1,000 years. At some point I'll rub two brain cells together and come up with a proper name to replace "furry AU earth"... oh! Hey, what about Terra Furra? Get it? It's like Terra Firma, only-- what? Don't roll your eyes, come on, that was clever! D:

Anyway, I gave it some thought and came to the realization that Xalvador might be even older than Klaus. That sounds impressive, but wait'll I tell you that Klaus, child of the late 19th century (that's 1800s for those not in the know) technically isn't even middle-aged yet by gryphon standards. He will be very soon, but not yet. He's about 39 in gryphon years, he just looks older because he's had a hard life. I could be wrong, but I get the impression (because that's how it is with OCs, you don't so much create them as you "talk" to them and gradually get to know them) Xalvador's life was comparatively easy, whether because he was luckier in avoiding hardships or better at coping with them (Klaus is the anxious, obsessive type) but he and Klaus look the same age so he must be older, either that or he's spent one too many a late night partying and drinking heavily, which is also highly probable.

That explains the hardcore environmentalism, imagine if you'd been around to experience a more-or-less untouched rainforest and were now witnessing it's death throes.
