Description I can't stop thinking about Xalvador and I must've watched every Brazilian history video on the internet. I've learned so much useless trivia I can tell you how to make a dinner tray out of butterfly wings, the state of Rio de Janeiro's plumbing and how a snake smoking a pipe correlates to World War II. What's happening to me? It's not France Senpai, it's not even a European country. Gott im Himmel, send help.

Don't look at me like that. Your guess is at good as mine, alright? It just happened. Well, maybe it didn't just happen, I was always fascinated by the Amazon rainforest, conservation of the world's lungs was a huge deal when I was growing up, to the point where, in elementary school, I had to learn about the animals that lived in the Amazon, what their role in the ecosystem was, how rainforests guard against global warming and 2nd grade was the first time I'd ever heard the word "canopy." Plus I wanted to be an archeologist when I grew up and the largest forest in the world, I thought, is precisely where I'd hide the remains of an ancient civilization. I think I would've had a very hard time deciding whether to go to a dig site in the Amazon or a quaint 19th century French inn were I ever given the option when I was younger.

Oh! And Egypt, I loved ancient Egypt, biggest understatement of the millennium, but I digress. To this day I'm never too busy to watch a new Amazon-related documentary, then it occurred to me that I knew next to nothing about the nation that harbored the vast majority of the Amazon rainforest: Brazil.

So I watched a history documentary to remedy that. And another, and another, rinse and repeat for about two and a half weeks. My friends keep asking me "what's got you stuck on Brazil of all places?" The better question is "Why are you not stuck on Brazil?" It's fascinating. The scarlet macaw really should've been it's national bird, because everything about the place sticks out like Dazzle Camouflage. It's the fifth largest country in the world, it contains 60% of the largest, most biodiverse forest in the world (a forest with rainbow-winged birds, lest we forget), it's a Portuguese-speaking nation surrounded by Spanish-speaking nations (funny considering how small Portugal is compared to Spain), it's not weird to see a ritzy hotel with pools, tennis courts and immaculately manicured gardens slicing into a bullet-riddled slum, they invented Bossa Nova (so what if it sounds like elevator music? I like elevator music), it's the only country in the world named after a tree, we can thank them for most of our coffee, the political scene is never dull, evidently the Nazis were bitten by the Brazil bug too because a bunch of them fled there and, paradoxically, even though I can't go two clicks without hearing about what a troubled, dangerous country it is, the citizenry seems to be very nice, generally speaking. Outside of riot footage I don't think I've ever seen a Brazilian in a bad mood.

Like for instance, he's one of my oldest watchers and in all the years he's been here I don't think I've even seem him get mildly upset. I've got social anxiety issues, I'm a chatterbox in the artist's description but initiating a conversation, even online, doesn't come naturally. I've not said a thing to Herr Wolf for what must be years now, yet every few weeks he'll send a note my way asking how I'm feeling, complementing a drawing, or what my opinion on this or that topic is, and my awkward silence never irks him. So nice. ;u;

Odin's left tit, listen to me prattling on about this country like it's my highschool crush. :'D

10/10 would flee there to escape war crimes tribunal.

Xalvador: "And I haven't even told you about brigadeiros yet!"

Xalvador, why are you dressed like a tourist? Did you steal that shirt?

Xalvador: "Claro que não, if I wanted shirts I would steal them in bulk. But all joking aside, I do have money, you know."

Did you steal the money?

Xalvador: "In bulk."

Tell this feathered Von Humboldt the centipedes all around him are terribly venomous and that their bite is really painful: I was bitten by one a few weeks ago. I was lucky its fangs skidded againnst my fingernail and only one ponctured my skin... other four neighbors also bitten ended in a hospital.
Pretty and tender detail that of the butterfly in his shirt: I really admire your style, especially with avians and the great deal of research done.

I love to see when someone "gringo" talks about brazil, from his opinion about him, because in my sincere and humble opinion, I love this place a lot, the most beautiful natural landscapes, rich in vegetation and other things, food is Definitely the best! Even the simplest is rich in beauty and flavors in Brazilian cuisine, but what really spoils this beautiful and strong birth, its fragile  policy, I am ashamed to say that I am from Brazil because of this policy full of corrupt and evil people Brazil is beautiful, rich in nature, culinary, and not to mention the hospitality of the Brazilian people, we are very kind people and we love when we see people from outside admiring our customs, I am proud to say that I am Brazilian by the parts That let me tell: that politics can not ruin our naturias beauties and the people that we are, from the heart!

My dad worked there for a while with FAO; in fact, he was still with them when I was born. Later he resigned and entered to work with the ASO.

Fact that Xalvador is some dangerous and corrupted politicbirb you shouldn't mess with, but is also some dad to all these colourful bugs and to Amazon fauna makes me laugh so much. He looks adorable here. 10/10 can't expect him to be such a manipulator.

(well I totally agree with you for Scarlet macaw, it totally should be Brazil's national bird! Or some macaw or toucan species at least, there are hundreds of colourful and amazing birds species in Amazon and they chose... thrush... Not to say thrush is a ugly bird or isn't interesting but... You can't think of Brazil without thinking about tropical and amazing, weird, colourful animal species and... And when you look at the thrush... Not that exotic xD)

I start to like Xalvador. Thankfully he is not a toucan, because he would be lynched in the street (or maybe not, after all Brazilians vote in mass with corrupt politicians). I think I'll include him in my fanfic. After all Herr Klaus will need help to put his plans into practice in Brazil...

P.S .: brigadeiro is the best candy in the world.

No.. if Xalvador were a toucan, he would be either in a cozy seat in a city council, or in the deputies chamber.. or in the senate.... or he would probably be Governor of São Paulo (heck, he certainly have more charisma than Geraldo Alckmin...)

(truth to be told.. if we still voted in ballots.. i would cast my vote for him, in protest.)
