Description Phidippus johnsoni, a supposedly common jumping spider of western North America (despite the fact that this is the first one I've seen). I'm really bummed I didn't get a better shot of this guy...Check the interwebs for far better pictures than this, they are quite beautiful!

Yeah, I was pretty startled to see that bright red-orange abdomen--on a spider! I guess they are mutillid wasp mimics, which is a good way of warning off potential predators.

I don't know species. But they were black, brown and tan.
