Not to mention that his first caretaker made a mess of the place before the sewer completely backed up.

Although something like new Phyrexia was to be expected. Considering what Memnarch founds initially in that watchtower at the beginning of the the first Mirrodian story arc.

The only good thing is that Karn could potentially re-create Mirrodian, but I'd say it would be so much more heartbreaking collapsing the plane no matter how tainted.

I'm curious to how he created the plane to begin with, he's not a true Planeswalker to begin with so I'm assuming the altering of the spark should not really affect him.

during the final Days of the Great Phrixian war on Dameria Urza created Karn as a Final Weapon against the Phrixians but when Urza died and the Phrixians defeated he transferred one of his rubies the source of planswalker powers to Karn as a final remembrance to his Ego.
After Karn left Demaria and wandered the Blind eternities until he created mirridian.
But back on demeria the after effects of the war was creating massive temporal and dimensional flux causing time and other planes to crash together.
Nobody knows how it happened but the universe it self used the power of the planswalker spark to repair it but afterwords all plains wakers everywhere lost a large amount of there powers including Karn.

You're getting several of the stories mashed together but you do have the jist.
Urzra did create Karn, but initially as an agent to go back in time to try and stop Yawgmoth from going full force with the civil war between the Thran and his early Phyrexians.
While he was doing that he was creating a weapon system including the Weatherlight and a series of artifacts called the Legacy. Karn was part of that and during the final confrontation between the Weatherlight and Yawgmoth coming through the ancient portal as a massive noxious gaseous cloud, the Weatherlight (which uses a power crystal powered by a collapsed plane, Serra's Realm to be percise), Karn and the Legacy folded in on itself and created Karn as a Planeswalker.
After that Apoclypic war, there was the massive war from the Onslaught block and the whole Korona, False God mana embodiment before the temporal shifting.
I've read all the books but the Kawagami block. My question is that even though the nature of the planeswalker spark has changed, when Karn the Weatherlight and Legacy came together and Karn become a planeswalker, he still was basically a machine, he never had the actual planeswalker spark. Anything he might have gotten form a planeswalker was carryover from the little bit of Urza that was left when the Legacy Weapon (with Urza's head being held by Gerrard Capshien containing the Mightstone and Meekstone) hit. So why would Karn be really affected?

True. But since Karn isn't an "organic" planeswalker I do believe his powers would not really be diminished because he would only act like a planeswalker for all due purposes and wasn't born one.
