Description
The full title is The last day of Man (a late awakening)Painted from a sketch made last october while getting sick again. As you can see, probably the darkest and the most abstract work I've ever made, but I guess the peace of winter helped me to temper the mood. Hope you'll like it though.

Man, this is brilliant. I love the bleak, forlorn atmosphere and the predominantly abstract, yet still very suggestive and intimating technique.

First, let me say that I love the fact that this is so very close to black and white.. somehow it seems that color would muddy the 'feel' of it.. not so much the abstractness of it, but the clarity of the abstraction, if that makes sense...
I find it captivating.. there are so many translations I want to give it.. the hints of a cityscape in the background ( our complex rise of civilization ) .. what seems almost a combination of a junkyard pile and volcano to the right.. ..the figure seems almost Eastern/religious .. symbolic of our spiritual wars, both internal and external.. in ourselves and with others.. I find I'm able to visual a gas mask, which fits well with the overall view of mass destruction, ruin.. as if the toxicity of things is more than a mere cirucmstance.. .. ah but I digress..
Excellent as always.. and certainly worth reflection..

I see an angel standing in a snow filled and ashen pathway leading down hills into a burned city...
