Description
The M117 is a Designated Marksman Rifle chambed to fire the more powerful .338 Norma Magnum replacement to the 7.62x51mm Nato round. It is a designated marksmen rifle with an ambidextrous safety. The upper receiver is made from steel instead of aluminium alloy. It based on the M6A2 carbine, but heavily modified. Approximately 75% of the parts are interchangeable with the M6A2. This weapon was developed in 2035 to meet a ULS Navy SEAL requirement for a more powerful version of the M6 marksmen rifle. It was adopted in 2036 and was used by the SEALs, Delta Force, and other special forces units. Since 2040 this weapon is used by all branches of the ULS Armed forces. The M117 is a simple weapon and shares ammunition with the ULS LWMMG. Civilian variants to the rifle exist only using .303 or .30-6 ammunition.
