Very cool! I haven't drawn a gun since jr high (which was when I got censored for it - ugh I even wrote a paper on it that I uploaded if you want to read it when I finally realized what happened during my first year in college, haha Kinda old and basic, but it was written in the heat of the moment in a 101-type course and is probably one of the only papers I actually enjoyed writing during those first couple years)
Censorship - Protection from InnocenceIt was a classic; a book that the student had read what felt like a thousand times before. He had become obsessed with it from the first time he read through its pages, seeing its story through from cover to cover. At every chance and opportunity, the student went to plays, saw movies, and studied it thoroughly – as could easily be seen from the several haggard copies displayed proudly in his room. Sure, some of them had worn out covers that would leave other book lovers appalled, and some even had a few pages missing – but that didn't matter to him. By now, he knew those long-lost pages by heart. Finding himself in High School, the student was finally given an opportunity to take a literature course that featured his favorite book of all time: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He was so excited to finally be able to share his knowledge and love for the book with all his classmates and friends! The student was a book nerd, and not particularly good at sports or math, however but these look super cool with awesome descriptions! I don't know much about specs and such myself, but my father loves star trek and my older brother does work in the military (if you can call making sure no stray hunters get hit by stray bullets by pilots-in-training work when all he does is ride around on ATVs all day, haha) and they talk a lot about mashing fiction and reality together (my family also was a bit subjected to WWII documentaries like nobody's business). So while I can't make super related comments like some might... I still think this is super cool!

I loved WW2 documentaries although I have a shit load of them on Vietnam and Korea. I have to say I am not shocked that a drawing of a gun caused freaking panic and censorship.

Well if I were you get him a Greatest DogFights/Tank Battles dvd box set. Still guns don't kill people people use guns to kill people. I mean a woman killed three would be rapists with an AR15 is that a bad thing? I think not.

Damn nice work! I would assume that these weapons would be considerably lighter than our equivalents, probably due to the use of plastics and the like in the working parts of the guns or lighter but still very strong metals. But during the decline of tech during the 3rd Succession War period you'd probably see these guns being built from parts and metals we'd recognise and would probably be very little different from a modern assault rifle.

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked it the entire firing mechanism was made of something like the plastic in the miniature mechs that come from 3D printers. I have seen people construct lower receivers from carbon fiber and plastic the only things I would wonder is how much of the gas piston would be available after the 3rd Succession War. Short stroke Gas pistons were first seen in guns like the M1 Carbine so long as you have enough metal these guns could survive the Succession wars better than Mechs easy. Although a Current gun like the REC-7 by Barrett (as in Federated Barrett) weighs in at 3.7 kilos its a good gun too. Although for the main gun to have five shots seems like an over sight on Wiesman's part. I just hope this design is cool with the more experienced mechwarriors.

Also you might like the look of this beasty - cfw.sarna.net/wiki/images/3/35… and beasty it is as the whole weapon system weight 12kg. But then again its got these features.
A 6-shot self loading grenade launcher
A 'survival pack' in the stock (that large box which I thought was the power pack) which includes - Contained within the weapon's stock was an extensive survival kit, which included two two-hour emergency flares which doubled as fire-starters, a flashlight and batteries for 48-hours of use, a pulse signal stick with visible/infrared strobe light and emergency radio, a folding spade and a medical kit which included a two-day supply of nutrition pills and a five-meter length of self-adhesive bandage.[
And of course the bloody things a laser gun!

Oh man that Rifle actually weighs more than the CLU weight of Javelin missile system, and that is a two man weapons platform. I based the Tomcat's(my Star League descendants turned mercs) SRM launchers on the Javelin ATGM they have 2 man teams using them while one guy with a exoskeleton wields the PPC unit. I can see now why the Hell's Horses made the elemental infantry.

Indeed, that big bastard was designed to be carried by PA(L)'s (Power Armour Light) - cfw.sarna.net/wiki/images/e/ed… you can see the Nighthawk actually using the rifle to give an indication of how damn huge it is.

Oh yeah that is a big gun I mean the PA/L isn't small I think its almost the same size as a Elemental battle armor. Now I know the regular infantry SLDF still used the Mauser rifle. I guess the survival kit makes the infantry man's life easier although 12 kilos is a bitch.

Nah, PAL's are basically endoskeletons, so thats man sized, but thats still a big ass gun.

Yeah and the Clans got the right idea build the infantry man around the weapon. Hell's Horses for the win!

The barrel would probably be made of carbon fibres round a thin metal jacket for the rifling but save changes in materials I doubt they would really change much from what we have today. Sure you might get some weapons that look like the HK G11 rifle (loved the look of it). Even this guy - www.sarna.net/wiki/File:Infan1… (its in Technical Readout 3085, damn good book!) has a rifle at his shoulder that its got a British army SUSAT sight on it from an SA-80.

They would have the tech after the first 2 wars to make the carbon fiber barrels they can barely make weapons like Stinger missiles. I saw that rifle of the Lyran Guards. I was thinking of going with a Bullpup design for the M42B. However the long rifle and other weapons in those tech read outs plus few other factors meant I went with the AR15s.

Well you also have to blame Comstar for the decline too they killed so many scientist and researchers to speed things up.
