Description One of my paintings of the Heathen gods and goddesses.

This is Gerd the giantess goddess and wife / mistress of Frey.

Gerd's name means enclosure, hence the symbolism showing hunting and gathering above and agriculture below.

This suggestion of transistion ties in with the myth of Frey's wooing of Gerd which was troublesome and culminated in a field of barley.

Thank you.

I should have mentioned the rune marked fence posts are based on descriptions of ancient shrine posts.

Which probably means that I'll have to add some to my altar

Only if:
1 the altar is outside
2 you want shrine posts

My altar is inside....don't know how it would look like.

You need high seat pillars then

Not many have room for those

What do you mean for High seat pillars?

Thorskegga In reply to Zenoxen [2011-09-21 18:12:55 +0000 UTC]

The are mentioned quite frequently in the Icelandic Sagas. The seem to very be heavily carved structural pillars carved with the faces of the gods or sacred animals.

The first Icelandic settlers decided where to set up their farms by tossing the pillars overboard and following them ashore.

I read about those, but I had never had read that term to define them.

I can do those, but in a sort of miniature.
