So vibrant and whimsical! Flows wonderfully! So strong yet soft... I envy this talent... I smudge so much with pastels! LOL

Just me enjoying messing with the paint and the colour, after spending too many years striving for detail!

You are too kind!

This reminds me of a dream I had. One of those dreams you can't forget. I'm terrible with Pastels, I'm like Ralph from the Simpsons, "Miss Hoover, I ate the glue can I have some more?"

Enjoyable piece to look at!

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-06 13:51:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks David.

Oil Pastels require me to lay down my mantel of detail and bath in the glory of free expression [Oh dear! better go and get another tablet!].

That's something to be proud of. I have some cracking dreams but forget them almost immediately. I should keep a dream diary but my wife would think I was at last going over the edge.

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-08 21:00:15 +0000 UTC]

haha well to put it into perspective. Stephen King purposely wakes up at 5am to write his dreams down! Now if that isn't a money making scheme I don't know what is!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-08 23:47:33 +0000 UTC]

Anyone who can wake up at 5am and write "anything" down deserves to be successful. That's probably why I'm a starving artist!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-09 00:33:11 +0000 UTC]

I guess when we make names for ourselves like that we'll wake up at 5am too and write for that kind of money

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-09 14:01:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes! The kind of fortune he's made out of writing could certainly motivate me to jump out of bed at 5am!

I have to force myself to get up every morning. I'm still waiting for my responsible phase to kick in where I actually look forward to getting up! Getting to sleep and staying asleep as never been one of my problems. Don't have kids if you value your lie-ins! Lol.

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-11 01:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Trust me, I want my own family at some point in my life. Some of my friends have "set ages" when they want to do things, and be in certain situations. Other friends want 3 kids before they are 30 and I'm like, "If I'm washing the dishes by myself at 30 I will be a success!!!!"

I'm all about being ready and responsible before I get into the "real business of life" I don't want to pretend!

As for now, my afternoon naps before my main snooze will be on high priority, I enjoy sleep waaay to much, give me another 10 - 15 years minimum.

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-11 21:03:56 +0000 UTC]

When do you actually wake up?!! I'm sure you accounted for 24 hours of sleep in that schedule!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-11 23:19:08 +0000 UTC]

are we talking without an alarm? Because if that's the case don't even try to wake me up I've put in a 12+ hour session before, granted being sick with the chicken pox when it happens doesn't help either lol!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-12 22:13:55 +0000 UTC]

What?! You've even managed to sleep through Chicken Pox?!!

I had Chicken Pox as an adult and can honestly say that was one of the worst experiences of my life. A living hell, would not be too harsh a description. I remember just shuffling around all night for a week with my skin burning and trying not to rake it off!! [Shivers just thinking about it]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-12 22:47:53 +0000 UTC]

You, Me and my Dad all had it as adults. My dad got it from my brother when he was a baby. I got it from my mom last year when she had shingles (I wasn't vaccinated). I have a very small scar on my nose, I can guarantee you I will never get a crew buzz cut. I torn my scalp to pieces for the 4 weeks I had it. Luckily my classes had ended for the summer and I could milk my parents for ice cream every night I want to get vaccinated for the shingles when I am older. I am hesitant of any vaccine, I react very poorly to things like that but I know how bad shingles can be.

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-13 20:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeh! I got it from my youngest lad when he was a baby. I remember feeding him late at night - he was covered in the "pocks" and cooing and smiling away, and I'm burning up and thinking, "this is all because of you mister, don't you smile at me"! It doesn't effect babies and kids in the same way as adults. They don't suffer the same kind of mental torture - where you know there is no escape!

Yes, shingles is even worse! Feel really sorry for your mum. I dread getting that! Didn't know you could get vaccinated for it.

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-13 20:48:03 +0000 UTC]

From what I understand there is a shingles vaccine. Unless that was a wonderful dream I had. My mom was lucky nothing more serious happened. I took good care of her. Too good though! All my mom said was "I'm so sorry Dave!" I responded "that's OK mom nothing we could have done, please scratch my head now" lol! I tell you what, she is a saint to put up with my brother and I. We are such babies!

At least with babies they have the bliss of not having the motor functions to scratch their bodies!

Yes you're right. Well done for lookin' after your mum!

Yes your mum is a saint. Like my wife, she's better coping with illness than me. We know how to exploit a good cold or flu to get all the treats that are going. Takes many years of practice! Lol!
