Description Gloss paint on board.

Size 1150(w) x 740(h) mm

This began life as a rough house gloss paint on board and resurfaced recently to be completed in the GIMP. Hence because of it's origins I have submitted it under Traditional Work - though not trying to hide the fact that it is partly digitally enhanced.

Hope you like it! And hope those of you who are experiencing a prolonged winter will derive a little bit of warmth and comfort by your visit.

This reminds me of some of Henri Rousseau's work. I like the color. Good work.

I think you took Bob Ross' saying "happy trees" to an extreme man! He'd be proud!

You know I still get hypnotised by that guy (as critical as I am at his style) whenever I've seen him on the telly. It's his voice coupled with the speed (no I'm not on "speed"). I can just hear him saying that "happy trees"!

I understand where you are coming from when it comes to his style. I personally couldn't imagine him outside of his television show painting nothing but 30 minutes pieces. I'm sure he had a very detailed and meticulous style as well (at least I hope) I love the guy too, I wish he was still around to talk about how he would save squirrels My friend and I would turn him on when we got home from school. It was a tradition

He just had a very mellow relaxed way about his voice. My youngest lad still likes to watch him too. I didn't know he'd passed on!

yeah unfortunately. He was a really kind spirit. I will ALWAYS watch if I turn him on by accident. I don't think they have any videos on youtube which stinks. I'd love to get seasons of his show haha

Someone must be controlling the copyright on his films very well if they're not already on youtube. That surprises me! We are very sad you know!!

I do enjoy Hulu. com . They have a TON of movies and TV shows that are paid for by advertisements in between the episodes. Hopefully you get it in the UK. I know certain sites are blocked by continents.

Be quick though, the "gimmick" for a lack of a better word, is that they constantly change their lineup of programs. They've even gotten sponsored by NBC and the like

BTW: Happy Mother's Day to your family! I'm bout to eat some Apple pie

When do you celebrate Mother's Day? We celebrated it ages ago (at least a couple of months ago)!! Now I understand why you got the gift from the flea market. I thought you were late getting your mum something! I though we all celebrated Mother's Day at the same time. Well you live and learn!!

Yes and we drive on the different sides of the road too! Seems like we do a lot of things differently in the US, which makes no sense to me. Our Mother's day was good and my "main" gift to my mom was I would mow the lawn completely, It was getting pretty messy

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-12 22:40:41 +0000 UTC]

Well there's more of you than us so you must be in the right! Especially as the rest of Europe drives on the same side of the road as you. Lol!

I would have thought that was more of a Father's Day pressy!

Mowing the lawn! Don't remind me. I've been building a new wood shed at the bottom of the garden this week, and the hedges and lawn are completely "junglified" (if that's a word).

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-12 23:09:31 +0000 UTC]

I hereby state that "junglified" is now a word. Pertaining to the lawn growth of unusual and inappropriate length. See photo - pictured, myself and my house. Once I start though I can't stop. I'm very OCD like that, everything must be perfect! It was actually my mom who wanted it done (who am I to turn down my own mother on her day?!)

Thricelight In reply to DavidHoffrichter [2009-05-13 20:00:34 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! When your mum asks you to do it you must not refuse. That's how it works in our house too! Now when dad asks - that's a different matter altogether! Is there money involved? Can I have longer on the computer tonight? I tire of the bribery and corruption employed in this house!!:laughing! No, they're good lads really.

You in the garden? Was there a photo? No link, I think! Hey, I've nearly created the shortest poem in the world there! The shortest I believe is actually "Adam ad'em". That's the sort of useless info my mind is crammed full of. Nothing of use whatsoever.

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-13 20:22:43 +0000 UTC]

haha, that's how we are with my dad too, however as I seem to be the loan officer in my family these days. I can get away with more It gets to a point where we don't need to ask to stay up late or to go out. It's more like "Mom, Dad, can you buy me this? No?...ok, Hey remember that money I let you borrow where I couldn't buy that stock that doubled yesterday?" It was a shame too I really wanted to buy that GE stock when it was at 6 a share

No you'll never get a photo of me doing yard work that would be like finding a wild elephant wandering the suburbs worried with no where to go! The only poem I can think off the top of my head is "A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose" Here's a random fact "The Philadelphia Zoo is the first Zoo in the United States" It is huge too!

Your poor Mum and Dad! They must be so long suffering!

The worst in our house is when they get their allowance each month - they leave it lying around and nobody knows whose money is whose. They're desperate for cash, and when they get it, they haven't a care in the world!!

Sounds like Philadelphia has everything!!

When you get passed the violence philly can be nice, center city especially and old city too!

Philly sounds interesting in many ways. Lol. You get violence in any big city I suppose. Liverpool and Manchester are the nearest big cities to us and they are places you would not want to be out on your own in the day let alone in the night!!

DavidHoffrichter In reply to Thricelight [2009-05-15 20:43:35 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't be caught in Philadelphia at night (which I have) The traffic isn't as bad as you'd think for a city, especially nothing compared to New York.

I want to move as far away from all cities as I possibly can when that time comes

We used to live out in what passes for country until we had kids, as we felt it wouldn't be fair on young kids to be stuck out in the wilds, miles away from friends. Both my wife and I grew up with plenty of friends in our respective streets. Friends that also went to the same schools, so there was some sort of continuity. Less ferrying around too.

We are now close enough to town, schools and parks, etc. that if the credit crunch really bit, we'd still be able to get everywhere on foot.

If it was just me and the wife, then we'd be as far away from civilisation as we could get!! A desert island preferably!!

haha I hear that man, we would love to have a minimum of 5 acres in all directions between us and our neighbors

I hope you eventually get to that island
