I'm not a fan of Snarry but I do enjoy father/son/like or student/mentor stories of them. That's kind of what this looks like, Harry looks so helpless and scared and Snape is the only person he has to turn to so he clings onto him for comfort and security. Snape is also just a husk of what he once was and reluctantly accepts and embraces Harry who's frightened and alone and attempts to comfort the boy in the best way he can.
