What camera do you use!? They take stunning pictures. Or is that a trade secret

He uses a Canon 7D and if I remember correctly, almost exclusively Canon L telephoto lenses. The lenses cost several thousands of dollars a pop and are what give the quality more than the camera itself.

What gives Thrumyeye's photos their amazing quality, might be a little to do with his processing style (when he runs his images through photoshop, lightroom etc.), but I imagine mostly due to his shooting technique and persistence; technique allowing him to get where he needs to be for his great compositions, and persistence allowing him to capture those one-in-a-million moments that he does so well, which give his photos a much more interesting quality than had they just been (technically excellent) "look, here is a photo of a bird. Here is a photo of a fox".

Nope, no secret: a Canon 7D.

That is creepy, I was just looking at that exact camera when you commented that Thank you, you take such amazing photos and I aspire to be like you. I just can't find the shots I am looking for, you must spend a long time looking for those animals?

Such a natural talent, it is good to see Thanks for telling me what camera you use. It is a little expensive for me but I think I could probaly nag my parents into getting it for my birthday If not do you reccommend the Canon 60D?

Thank you

What camera do you have at the moment? A body will depreciate in value a lot faster than good lenses will, and the lens will make more of a difference.

As you're getting started, see if you can get the Canon 100-400L lens. It's a fantastic zoom lens and will get you close to the technical quality of thrumyeye's photos.

If you don't currently have a Canon DSLR, then you might still want to see if you can get that lens, and then pair it with a lower end offering like a Canon 1000D (pretty old, quite cheap, but in the right light it's a perfectly capable camera)

At the moment I don't even have a canon I have a panasonic but my mum and dad are willing to get me the Canon EOS 60D which I will probaly get.

As for the lens, I have not decided yet as to what one to get however I shall look into the 100-400L lens because it sounds awsome! I have never had lenses, I am definatly not professional but it is just a hobby so I want to get the best camera I can to spark my photography

Thank you so much for your advice

The real question is, how small is the bird? That fish doesn't look very big.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

twixie09 In reply to Neyuu [2011-08-26 19:43:55 +0000 UTC]

It's a matter of perspective. The bird may not be very big, and the fish may look miniscule to us humans, but to the bird, it is obviously a huge fish.

Neyuu In reply to twixie09 [2011-08-26 22:26:49 +0000 UTC]

I know this. I was curious to know how small the bird was, because the fish doesn't seem big.
